Set up a tripod and use a remote to capture the looks on faces as the game progresses. This weekend on Sunday, on February 5th, is the Super Bowl XLVI!

I am determined to capture the memory of my sons’ senior year and make it a year that our family will remember forever. So I am scrapping a few images each month of his Senior year, and when he graduates I will have all the scrap pages printed and bound into a lovely album. Football and Digital Scrapbooking

Who can think about September without thinking about football? In our home football is something we eat drink and sleep. Not the NFL teams so much, but our hometown football team.

Our son is a Senior this year. He is a starter on our High School Football team that my husband happens to coach.

So this year I think it is a great idea to add a football page to his Senior scrapbook that I am making to surprise him at the end of the year. This will be the September section in the scrapbooking album.

I will add a few digital scrapbooking pages in this section of the album.

I think it would be fun to add some old photos that I scanned of him when he was a little boy dressing up and playing football and include his current photo too! See the info on the mobile scanner towards the bottom of this article!

He has always loved the sport! And I think he will enjoy seeing old photos in his special album along the new ones too!

As I scrap my September pages I am going to focus on his Senior football picture. I am so excited for this page. I may even add a picture of him in his letterman’s jacket.

I know that September is going to be one of my favorite months to scrap for him. With back to school Senior pictures and football photos as the first two or three pages in the album I can’t go wrong!

I think I will do some extra fun digital scrapping and use some sports brushes (Sports Custom Brush Set) in Elements to make my digital pages! See what my scrap page looks like after I have scrapped with some custom brushes. The Go Team is a custom brush too!

It also makes me so excited for what is to come in my digital scrapbooking adventure of scrapping a couple of pages for my son’s album.

Next month I am looking forward to the homecoming dance and Halloween activities.

Each month is going to go by so fast, however I refuse to let them just slip away as I am saving these precious memories by digital scrapbooking them.

So bring on the Senior activities and GO RAMS! (or whatever you favorite team may be).

If you have been following along with our blogs, then you know that in yesterday’s article (Digital Scrapping Super Bowl XLV), we told you about how to get the logos and icons for the Super Bowl 2011 and the teams logos and icons too!

We also mentioned how you could scrap these icons with your digital scrapbooking supplies and showed you some some supplies that looked great to use with Super Bowl projects. And we gave some great links in this article for Super Bowl food! If you didn’t see this article read it now!

Today Capture the Kids on Super Bowl Sunday!

In today’s blog article we want to talk about capturing the children before and during the Super Bowl as these make precious memories!

If you look around before or during the game you will probably notice children getting ready for the game in the way children do.

For example, they may get out their football and throw it around the house. Hopefully not breaking anything!

They might try to dress up in the teams colors, put on a helmet, paint their face.

But whatever they are doing you might want to grab the camera and capture some of the action!  Children can be rather cute and can come up with tons of great ideas that have to be caught and scrapped!

Here are some Tips to capturing your kids this Super Bowl:

Tip 1: Get you camera ready the night before, make sure your batteries are recharged and put your camera in an area you can grab quickly.

Tip 2: If you have multiple cameras put them all out. If you have more than one camera put them in different places that you might quickly capture the kid action.

Tip 3: Look for your children dressing up.  Maybe they like to wear the team colors of they are cheering for? If so take photos! Maybe they like to wear a helmet during the game? If so take photos of that!  Take photos of all the dress-up they do on Super Bowl Sunday!

Tip 4: Take photos of them helping make the Super Bowl food or eating it! Children usually love to cook so add them into the preparations and take lots of photos to scrap later!

Tip 5: Take photos of other pre or post game activities – like children playing football in the bedroom, or outside.  Also take photos of other game day activities.

Tip 6: Take photos of the children watching the game!

Or not watching the game!  Put your camera on a tripod and if  you have a remote snap the photo when something comes up!

You might be surprised how many great photos you can get of your children and your whole family while enjoying the game!

Tip 7: Don’t forget to take photos of the family pet! These images really might be fun to include in the scrapbooking projects too!

Tip 8: Don’t leave your photos in your digital camera – get them out and scrap them! After you have gone to all the work to get great Super Bowl photos with your children, don’t leave them in your camera! Get them out and start digital scrapbooking them right away. Capture  the Kids Attention on Super Bowl Sunday with Coloring Pages !

Bonus Idea – A Craft Idea for Children:

Do you need to provide an activity for your small children while you are busy preparing food or so you can enjoy the game?

If so consider getting the Sports Brush kit to “Stamp” on pages and create coloring pages to keep children busy during preparations or while watching the game!

In a pinch brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create a quick coloring page for kids.

Here is how you make Coloring Pages for your Children

First, start Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and load your Sport brushes. If you don’t have these brushes you can buy them at the Scrap Shop.

To create a Sports coloring page, take the brushes that come in the Sports Brush Kit and load them into the brush tool. If you don’t know how to do this get brush training for either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Next in Photoshop or Elements make a new 8.5 x 11 digital scrapbooking page so it can be printed out in a home printer.

Then adjust one of the Sports brushes so that it fits on the page, and stretch it out as large as possible without extending it off the page. In this example I picked the Football brush.

Note: Since the Sports Brush I have picked is more a filled type brush, than an outline brush I will need to make some adjustments if I am going to use this type of brush for a coloring page. So, I “stamped” it in a very light gray color so the children can color over the shape.  This will give them a guide as they color on the Football Coloring Page.

You can use other sports brushes to make other coloring pages too!

Next, print out your coloring page(s) and give them to your children to color.

Take photos of your children coloring them too!

Also, you might want to scan the coloring pages and include images in your scrapbooking pages!

Ps. the great thing about these sport brushes is you can also use them to decorate your digital scrapbooking pages too!  The possibilities are endless!

Six Sports Photo Tips for Digital Scrapbooking!

Every year when school starts I am reminded that I live my life in seasons. Though Fall may be my favorite season, I am suddenly jolted into the reality that my sports seasons (that dictate my entire schedule) are here in full force.

During the Fall, Winter, and Spring season, I may be the mother of children and a husband participating in six different sports at one time. This is often exhausting, demanding, and can become very frustrating for me and so I have come up with a way to focus on the positive and forget that there can be anything negative about it.

I don’t believe that I am alone in the effort to raise children that enjoy sports and so I would like to share my method with any of you sports mom’s out there that need a break.

Here are some ideas for you to enjoy the seasons in your life just as much as I do.

Six Sports Photo Tips:

Tip 1:  Always carry your camera with you as well as your sense of humor. I was delighted the other day as I watched my nine year old  daughter participate in a track practice.

When I first arrived at the practice I couldn’t find her, I became worried and with camera in hand I started walking to the track where the other kids were practicing.

I had a good laugh when I arrived at the very back of the track and found my daughter with a friend catching grasshoppers. This was a picture perfect moment.

Tip 2: Focus on taking pictures of moments that mean the most to an individual child. My thirteen year old sister-in-law’s basketball team had a particularly rough game one day. All of the girls were crying in the locker room as the coach was not happy with their performance on the court.

The coaches wife walked into the locker room and saw all the crying girls and changed the entire atmosphere immediately by saying “Girls, it’s o.k., at least your hair was cute!”

Now that I have my own thirteen year old girl, I often think of this story when taking pictures of her in a sports setting.

I try to remember that to her it’s important to have a picture of her hair tied up in yellow and green ribbons and to get a picture of the balloons the parents have decorated the chairs with. Keep in mind that each child is an individual and focus on taking pictures that would be important in their memories.

Tip 3: Take step-by-step photos of the “sports process.”

Sometimes we only bring  cameras to the game or competition, but capturing some of the shots of the practices, the first time they put on the uniform, and even the kids enjoying the after game snacks is a great way to capture the whole event and then when it is digitally scrapped you can make a complete album of the whole sports process!

This is great way to keep the memories alive!

Tip 4: Ask a friend to take pictures for you and return the favor. This year my son received the most special gift. He was a Freshman in High School and was on the Varsity Wrestling Team. One of the kids on the team had a grandfather who is a professional photographer and he also had a sideline pass at the State Tournament that got him fairly close to the mats. As my son went out to wrestle in the Quarter final match against the favored Senior in his weight category, this grandfather said he just had a feeling that something special was about to unfold. He took pictures of the match from start to finish. At the banquet he presented my son with a framed and scrapped plaque that showed the match in detail. He had a picture of his hand being raised in victory, a picture of him hugging his dad (and coach), hugging his grandpa, and hugging his great grandpa on the sidelines.

This is a priceless gift and one that I could not have produced for myself as you can imagine if you are a sports mom, I was shaking to badly to take a decent picture.

We don’t always have a professional around to captures those moments, so ask a friend to take pictures for you and return the favor to them.

Remember be ready to take step by step photos so that you don’t miss that sports moment of a lifetime.

Tip 5: Take your PC with you!  I always love to take my laptop with me so that I can use that 10 minute  space of time while I am waiting for a practice to finish up or while I am waiting for a game to start. I have learned that these little spaces of time really add up and make it possible for me to enjoy my scrapbooking hobby while I am on the run. Tip 6: Get Sports Digital Scrapbooking Supplies to put your photos on, and combine digital scrapbooking with your families sport hobbies!

You sports photos need to go somewhere besides sitting in your digital camera! Take them and digitally scrap them so you can share your sports events with others!

I have four children and each of them are in at least two sports! And my husband is a coach for the High School here in town!

As you can see, we are a very busy family, trying to fit too much in, and wondering what in the world we would do if we ever had a free night with no practices or games to rush to.

As a mother, I enjoy and get a thrill out of our kids participating in all of these sports activities, not to mention the other things like dance, piano, drama, and Church activities too.

My favorite thing to do is take pictures at all the sports events with my new digital camera, and then look back at all the fun and great memories we have made at each activity or event.  I am very excited to remember with help from our photos, what our family was doing  and when! Otherwise all the rushing around would just be a blur!

Our family life clock is really set to the “Sports Seasons” in our lives! I just recently told my sister that I was too busy to help her with one of her projects because we were in “Wrestling Season” — but as soon as “Baseball Season” started I could help her! Since my sister doesn’t have a “sports calendar” in her life she asked me if I could translate that into regular months of the year for her!

Since I like to take the photos of our “Sports Seasons” and what each family member has accomplished during that season, I then like to digitally scrap these memories; I was excited to see the new Sports Brushes at Digital Scrapbooks and More’s full featured Scrap Shop!  I like “stamping” them on my digital tags or notes in my digital scrapbooking projects!

For me spring brings an assortment of new challenges. The biggest being those new sports seasons starts for my four children. I won’t bore you with the details but to give you an idea, volleyball, tennis, softball, and baseball are involved. With multiple children playing more than one sport at a time because they overlap it can get crazy.

This year just to craze myself a bit more I let three of my kids try out for a local theaters’ production of “Oliver”. Let’s just make it a little crazier and have one of the kids be cast as the lead “Oliver”. Couldn’t be prouder of those kids, but not much down time around my house.

All of these challenges and the rain seem to get me down a bit. So, when I need some cheering up in my personal down time during the day, I pull up my pictures on the computer. I laugh and sometimes cry as I remember why I do it all. I smile as I stop to take a minute to realize the accomplishments that have taken place over the past year, and I often wipe a tear or two as the thought comes to me that these days will not last forever.

Our generation is however so fortunate to be able to capture and create keepsakes that will last forever from the special moments that take place in our lives. What I love even more is that it is easy to create scrapbook pages and wall hangings, cards, baby announcements, thank you notes, calendars, and the list can go on and on. Today, I have decided to put together a sports themed page for my kids. I know they will want to frame this and hang it up in their room or put it in their own special scrapbook.

Check out what I have done and then go and save some special memories of your own. Wow, now it’s snowing outside, maybe I had better pull up the sledding photos!!

Digital Scrap Your Children and their Winter Olympics Activities:

Now you have some resources to get your children involved in the Winter Olympics it is time to take lots of photos and scrap them!

Take photos and scrap things like:

Kids Coloring Olympics Coloring Pages

Kids watching the events and games on TV

Kids playing some of the online games

Kids enjoying some of the food – i.e., hot coco and soups for the cold weather, or international foods

Kids picking an athlete and scrapping info about them and the events and how they feel and what the think

Doing some of the same events, like going ice skating, skiing, or other snow related activities

I am sure as you participate in some of these activates more scrapbooking ideas will come up! After you scrap all the pages, combine them together and make them into a PDF album and email the digital scrapbooking albums to your family and friends!
