Digital Scrapbooks and More wishes all you father’s out there a very HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! Father’s Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Fathers. It is a day to not only honor your dad, but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life – whether as Stepfathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, or “Big Brothers.”

What is Father’s Day anyway?

Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating men for their fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers/men in society. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in the USA and some other countries.

Did you know: that the concept of Father’s Day was first proposed in 1909 by Washingtonian native Mrs. John B. Dodd? Her inspiration for the holiday was to honor her own father, William Smart, a Civil War veteran and single dad, widowed when his wife died in childbirth with their sixth child.
Did you know that Americans aren’t the only ones to celebrate their dads? In the United States and over 50 other countries around the world, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. The first Sunday in June is when Lithuanian dads are honored; and on the second Sunday, dads in Austria and Belgium have their special day.
Did you know: that since the 1950s, TV dads have wielded tremendous paternal influence over generations of American families? Some of the most popular fathers to grace our sets have included Ward Cleaver, Mike Brady, Howard Cunningham and Everybody Loves Raymond’s Ray Barone.
Did you know that fatherhood is an experience that bonds men across generations, continents and life styles? For example, even world famous dad Brad Pitt suffers from the dreaded effects of sleep deprivation. “I love it,” he once said about fatherhood. “…and can’t recommend it any more highly – although sleep is nonexistent.”
Did you know that 11% of Dads are stepdads, living full-time with their spouse’s children? Did you know that 85% of Dads live only with their biological children?
Did you know two-thirds of children under the age of six eat dinner with their dads every day?

Have you been having trouble thinking of something for your Dad this Father’s Day? Are you tired of the same old thing from the store – a tie, a box of nuts, a gift card, or some grilling accessary?

Now, don’t get me wrong if your dad is really looking forward to those gifts, then by all means give it to him.

However, if you are just giving these types of gifts because you can’t think of anything, then how about one of these unique gifts for your special Father?

Here are few ideas to start getting you thinking in a creative way!

Idea: Make a very Personal Homemade Card. Make dad a homemade gift! Like a special homemade Father’s Day card and adding a personalized story, memory or thought. So I have begun pulling all of my favorite pictures of the kids and their dad out of the old photo albums and scanning them into the computer. Other ideas might include scrapping a personalized photo album all about Dad!

You can even make some really clever gifts with your edited photos and digital scrapped pages: puzzles, photo neckties, office accessories, chef aprons, coffee or beer mugs… you name it! Just scrap it, send it to an online company ( like Snapfish.com or Shutterfly.com) to put your personalize design on and you have a great personalized unique one-of-a-kind gift for dad!

Also, if you are good with transfer paper from your local office supply store (or online) then you can print your digital scrapbooking page or photo on the transfer paper and iron it on to aprons, T-shirts, sweat shirts, and more!

You can buy the plain white or colored T-shirts, aprons, and other items that would work with transfer paper at places like Wal-Mart.

Whatever you make or do for dad this Father’s Day make sure you take some photos of it and scrap it!

These memories will live on if you digitally scrap your families special events, special people, and holidays!

Have you been thinking this year for Father’s Day that you really want to make something special and personal for your Dad, husband or other special father figure?

If so you might want to include some Journaling into your digital scrapbooking projects for Dad! Adding a special story or memory can really make something fun into a wonderful and meaningful gift!

However, while you might want to write something special for your Dad sometimes it is hard to think of something to say.

If you need some help then ask yourself these questions in order to write about a touching memory or story for your Father, Husband or special guy! Adding journaling can really make a special surprise within your Digital Scrapbooking pages or gifts this Father’s Day!

15 Journaling prompts for Father’s Day Digital Scrapbooking Projects and Gifts:

Here are the journaling prompts to help you explore what a father was in your life to add to your digital scrapbooking pages:
1. What is your first or best memory of your father, husband or father figure?

Special journaling note: When using journal prompts for your digital scrapbooking projects and gifts, try to avoid yes and no answers. Use descriptive terms and be as specific as possible, add examples if you can. Remember to have fun journaling, it shouldn’t feel like your doing homework!

Father’s day is a great time for journaling and digital scrapbooking FATHERS themes. Get ready for Father’s Day by telling the man or men in your life that you love them!

Say Much More Than ‘I Love You’ This Father’s Day!

As you begin Digital Scrapbooking Projects and prepare for Father’s Day, have your gifts include old photos of Dad and you, sharing special activities that were captured on film!

And don’t just stop at writing the words “I love you,” or “You’re the best”… say much more than that by also including a story or a precious memory that really expresses your feelings about your Father.

Need some help? Ask yourself these questions in order to choose a touching memory or story as you create your Digital Scrapbooking gifts this holiday:

· What is your favorite childhood memory with your parent?

With Father’s Day just around the corner it is time to start getting ready to do some digital scrapbooking.

Last night I found myself wondering when Father’s Day is. My husband thought that it was probably the 2^nd Sunday in June. I didn’t think he was right so I looked it up and discovered a little bit of trivia that was interesting to me and so I thought I would share it with you.

I simply “googled” Father’s Day and that pulled up instantly the answer to my question. Father’s Day will be celebrated on June 21, 2009. Now I don’t have to worry about it sneaking up on me. I also found out how Father’s Day became a National holiday. According to www.loveyoufather.com a woman named Sonora Smart was listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909 and decided that her Father, who had raised her and her sibling after her mother passed away, deserved to be honored in a special way also. Her father William Jackson Smart was first honored at a celebration for fathers on June 19^th, 1910 in Spokane Washington.

A National Father’s Day Committee was formed in New York City in 1926 and Congress recognized Father’s Day for the first time in 1956.

President Nixon made the holiday permanent in 1966 and set the date for the third Sunday in June.

So, now that I know I have three weeks until Father’s Day, I know I have time to be a little creative. My sister-in-law made my mother-in-law the most touching scrapbook I’ve ever seen. It was very personal and I didn’t read it but I looked through it and was so touched at the type of memories she had included in it that I thought any mother or father would be a very lucky recipient to receive such a gift. I am going to digitally scrapbook mine, it will save a lot of time and money to do so. Each page she made had a theme. For example “What I remember about playing with you”. Then, she went on to describe the games her mother had made up, and how much she enjoyed the time her mother had spent playing with her and her siblings.

Another topic was “What you taught me about Prayer”, and another “How you taught me to be a good friend”, or “How you influenced me with you hard work ethic”. So you and I could individualize these topics to the ones that fit our relationships with our dads. We could write a caption such as the ones that I have shared, and then below it write a memory, a story, or a quote that goes along with the topic. Pictures could be included but are not necessary with this great gift.

I am going to use the digital paper and embellishments from Digital Scrapbooks and More’s Scrap Shop and then I am going to print it out on my home printer. I am going to put the pages in page protectors and then put them into a nice binder to give to my Father. You might want to do it this way or have it professionally printed. Anyway, I love this idea and hope you might be able to use it to. Remember that the best gift you can give is the gift of self.

Hope this gift idea will help you give someone you love a Father’s Day that they will always cherish.

I was really surprised how touched my dad was when I made a personalized Mother’s Day card for my mom, this made me think that I should make him a special card too!

Steps to Making a Father’s Day Card!

First Step, make sure you get a little digital scrapbooking training. If you don’t know how to create a card with digital scrapbooking supplies and your special photos then just take a look at this great training to learn digital scrapbooking! It even teaches in the last lesson how to upload your digital scrapbooking pages to an online printing company and make special gifts like calendars, photo albums and using these same skills it would be easy to create a special card for your special father! Take the Getting Started in Digital Scrapbooking Lessons. Take them lesson by lesson in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or get the whole Getting Started Training on a CD!

Second Step: Pick a Digital Scrapbooking Kit. After you know how to do digital scrapbooking then it is important to pick a nice digital scrapbooking kit to design your special Father’s Day Card.

Third Step: within Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or some other graphics program you add your photos, digital scrapbooking papers and supplies to create a special and personal card just for your Father!

I had a flashback this morning … it was a clear picture in my mind of my oldest son mowing the lawn for the first time. He was about five years old and proud as he could be. He was being pulled along by the mower and looking back to see if we were watching him to see if we were as proud of him as he was of himself.

Now 11 years later I watch him as he mows lawns for a summer job and my heart swells with happiness as I realize what a hard worker he has become. He doesn’t look back to see if we are watching any more, but I know that he is very careful that his work is done to the best of his ability because he knows that we are watching.

As Father’s day approaches and I have been contemplating the many things such as how grateful I am that my children have a great role model in a dad, my husband. He has taught them to work hard by working hard himself. He has taught them that giving service to others in need should be a top priority in their life by giving service himself. He has taught them commitment and dedication through demonstrating these qualities himself. He has taught them to be friendly, spiritual, and that having a tender heart is a good quality for a man to have. He has taught them to be good sports, to receive an education, and to love their mom. Could I be any more blessed to have such a wonderful role model for my children?

I want to give my husband a great gift this year for Father’s Day. A gift that catches some of the most precious moments that our children have shared with their dad. So I have begun pulling all of my favorite pictures of the kids and their dad out of the old photo albums and scanning them into the computer. My husband is a high school teacher, and so I want to make him a collage of these pictures to hang in his classroom.

Picking the pictures and scanning them into the computer is a little bit of work but also a very fun process. The best thing about it is that the pictures can stay organized in a file in the computer for as long as I want them to. I can also copy these pictures onto a disc as a backup should my computer or original pictures be lost or ruined one day. Another great idea is to send the disc to a close friend or relative so that if your most cherished pictures are every lost that someone has a copy and you will be able to replace them.

Maybe you would like to go through your old photos too. You could give a very special gift to your father of pictures of you and your siblings when you were young, pictures of you and him etc. If you are all getting together on Fathers Day it would be a great time to take a new picture to add to the collection. It only takes a few minutes to get on your computer and scrap a great page which you could print immediately and frame to give right away or you could give him a card stating that his gift will arrive in the mail soon. Then you could order an entire book of pictures through an online company that will send it directly to him if you want them to. Of course, this would be an incredible gift for the Father of you children also!
