You have your lovely scrapped page and then you add your precious photos so now it makes sense to include something said about the whole thing too!

Many of us are scrapping current photos, but many of us are also scanning old photos and scrapping them as well. These types of scrap pages and photos can really use some extra text to explain them, so the memories aren’t forgotten.

Sometimes when we are scrapbooking we can write about all the things we were doing. How we felt, who said what and why. These things make great additions to digital scrapbooking projects.

All of this got me thinking about adding more Journaling in Digital Scrapbooking projects.

However, sometimes we want to write more but don’t know where to start. So, with Easter coming soon, here are some Easter journaling prompts that might help if you are scrapbooking your Easter Photos, and scrap pages!

Easter Journal Prompts:

• Since for many Easter is about Christ’s resurrection, then what does the resurrection of Christ mean to you and your family? How to make sure you honor this day?
• Do you attend church and have a big dinner on Easter? If you go to church do they have special services on Easter? What do you look forward to? How do you feel? If you don’t go to church, how do you feel about that? What do you do that day? Do you have an special Easter outfit? Easter bonnet?
• How do you celebrate Easter? Share with your journal how your celebration of Easter evolved for you or your family. Did you just pick up the tradition from you family or have you created one of your own? What traditions have you pasted on to your Children? How do you celebrate with them? What cute things do they do or say about Easter?
• What is your favorite Easter memory from your childhood? Share all the details, place, where, when, people, how, why? Why do you think this memory sticks out in your mind as your favorite? How do your children celebrate? What memories do you hope for them?
• What is your favorite dish to eat at Easter time? What are favorite dishes, (and why) of others coming to your Easter dinner?  How is it prepared? What is your favorite thing that is only available at Easter time? Who helps make the dishes? Where do the recipes come from? Include the recipe in your scrapbooking page. Can you share these recipes with other family members?
• Do you dye Easter Eggs? Does the whole family do it? Does one person do it? Are the Eggs simple or elaborate? Do the children or grandchildren get involved? How has it changed since you where a child to now what your children or grandchildren do?
• Do you have an Easter Egg Hunt? Outside? Inside? Explain the adventure of discovering eggs. Do you hide Easter eggs? Real or plastic? If you use real eggs do you color your own or buy already colored? If you use plastic do you hide little goodies inside? Ever found a rotten egg? What about your children and what Easter Egg traditions are they having?
• What about Easter chocolate? How does this favorite play into your Easter traditions? If you don’t like chocolate, what is your favorite sweet thing to get or give on Easter?
• Does the Easter bunny show up on the day you celebrate Easter? Or not? Why? Does he come at night and leave surprises? Do you get an Easter basket? Do you make baskets for the children or grandchildren? What is special about the Easter Baskets? What is happening with your children or grandchildren?
• Easter flowers. Do you get Easter lilies? Or other Spring Flowers? How does outside look? Springtime? Birds? Other things in nature?
• In all of these prompts expanded the ideas above by including the people, place and how you feel and what you think about what is going on!

These prompts can serve as inspiration to include writing into a digital scrapbooking page and they can also inspire photos and scrapbooking themes too!!!

Use these prompts to look for old family photos to scan and arrange with journaling on scrapbooking pages. Use these prompts to help pick out certain types of Easter scrapbooking supplies to use in a theme with one or more of the prompts. Use these prompts to shot special photos that will coordinate with the journaling prompts too!

Did you know that you can turn your digital scrapbooking custom brushes into your very own coloring pages for your kids? You are not alone… many people don’t know about this simple brush trick!

Creating games and crafts to keep your kids preoccupied, busy, and happy is always a constant challenges as a mother! It can be hard to think of new activities… in fact, it can seem like a full-time job!

But, Custom Brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create in quick coloring pages for kids. Coloring Pages made from custom brushes can save money and keep children entertained during Thanksgiving.

Custom brushes are easy to use, and once you get into digital scrapbooking, you will absolutely love them! If you get the right set of Custom Brushes then you can easily turn them into coloring pages and fun activities for children!

Here is the secret to a good brush to use for a coloring page - if you use a brush that looks more like line art (instead of more solid-looking digital brush) then you can enlarge the size of the brush, stamp it on a digital page, and then print it out for a home-made coloring page! Or if your design has lots of areas already filled in. Select it those areas and delete them and then your design will be more open for a coloring page.

Using the same custom brush set (Easter Day Brush Set), I selected the Easter Cross and Easter Egg brush and “stamped” them on separate new documents in Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop).

I liked this brush set because it had designs that where open like the cross and for the Easter Egg design I was able to select area that were solid and delete them to make them more open to make the perfect coloring page! After I “stamped” the brushes out on my pages,  then I used my home printer to print it out.

Just like magic, now I have a great coloring page to give to the kids! 

Don’t forget the crayons!

This makes great coloring pages for kids to do while I prepare the Thanksgiving dinner!

After they are all colored then you can glue them on a larger colored paper and turn them into a place mat for Easter dinner too!

Also, if you want “stamp” a few extra on place cards and have the children color those too! That will make dinner fun and memorable, and in addition keep the children engaged and busy too!

My mom and I have even created a new mother-daughter tradition of picking an interesting recipe one a week and cooking it together while we talk on the phone. We live in different states, so it’s a great way to make fabulous, new meals and have a friend to do it with (and a fun way to just catch up and socialize with each other too!). We both take pictures of our culinary masterpieces after we are finished on pretty dishware and then enjoy a yummy meal with our own husbands.

After we make a dish that I really like, I always make sure that I digitally scrap it the next day. It doesn’t have to be elaborate- I often use the same digital scrapbooking page/template and just replace the photos and insert the new ingredients and recipe.  However, for special recipes I scrap interesting pages too!

I really like making my own recipe pages because my mom and I usually make so many tweaks to the recipe or want to include special notes for the next time we cook the dish. For example, a recipe may say to cook a dish for 1 hour and we find that it only takes 30 mins to bake. Or I may use more eggs than the recipe calls for, or I find that a few extra spices that aren’t mentioned in the original recipe make it taste even better. It’s nice to digi-scrap your favorite recipes right after you make them, that way you know how you should cook them the next time around!

This Easter, you too should scrap your favorite holiday dishes. Take pictures of your finished holiday meal, appetizer, drink, or dessert and take photos of you cooking and eating it! The best recipe scrap pages I have include pictures of me and my loved ones cooking and enjoying the food. It makes the page all the more special and reminds me about the day I made it!

My mother made us always eat breakfast before we could see our Easter Baskets loaded with candy.

I think see was smart to have us eat breakfast first, then we didn’t fill up on candy and then be sick the rest of the day.

But just because we want our kids to have breakfast first doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!

How about making Gluten Free Easter Egg Pancakes for Easter breakfast?!

This makes it fun and memorable – yet it can be quick and easy too!

How to make Gluten Free Easter Egg Pancakes:

First, make it easy and use a pancake mix.

Here I am using a Gluten-free (wheat-free) pancake mix for my daughter that is allergic to wheat.

But you can use any pancake mix you have on hand.

Next, mix up the pancakes according to the directions on the mix.

Heat up you pan or griddle. Get out 3 bowls and food coloring.

Divide the batter between 3 bowls and use the food coloring to color each bowl of batter in Easter colors.

Here you can see I used pink, yellow and green.

Now I am ready to make my Easter Egg pancakes.

First I pour out the shape of the egg using one color in to my pan.

Then I use other colors to decorate my egg pancake.

Below you can see how two of my egg pancakes look as they are cooking!

These Easter Egg Pancakes make Easter morning extra fun.

What kid wouldn’t want to start Easter morning with a fun Easter Egg pancake?  Make Easter extra fun this year and when you take the time to make memories don’t forget to scrap the fun too!

How to Plan an Egg-Citing Easter Egg Hunt for Your Kids and Neighbors!     (Originally posted 4/6/2009 by Jennifer Barlow)

There are many reasons why Easter is such a special holiday, but who can deny the fun of a good, old fashion Easter Egg Hunt?

At 25 years old, I can’t remember the last time I participated in one, and since I don’t have kids yet, I haven’t hosted one either. That said; I have to admit, I wish it wasn’t so odd for adults to have Easter Egg Hunts themselves! It seems like so much fun.

I asked my husband his memories on Easter Egg Hunts, and he told me a few fun stories. Apparently his father got really into it, and always created challenging egg hiding-places; making the hunt even more exciting. My husband also told me that they used real eggs (instead of the popular plastic eggs commonly used) and we laughed about how there was always an egg or two that was found a day or two later when the smell showed up!

Anyway, how should you create a fun Easter Egg Hunt for your precious little munchkins? Follow the steps below to host an “Egg-Citing” Egg-Huntin’ Adventure for the kids this year!

See these 6 easy steps:

Step One: Buy plastic eggs and fill them with candy or fun, small toys. Make sure you count how many eggs you have! Fill one egg with a little note that says, “Egg Got You!”

Step Two: Hide the eggs. Make some hiding spots easy, others more challenging (especially for older kids). Be sure to write down the hiding spot for each egg in case you need to know where one is later!

Step Three: Let the Egg-Hunt Begin! Make sure to snap lots of digital photos as the kids look for eggs and the expressions on their faces as they find them! Don’t forget to take pics of the parents as they watch and cheer the kids on! And make sure someone gets a pic of you too at some point of the day!

Step Four: After all the eggs have been found, let the kids open each egg within their basket and begin snacking on their egg’s treats, and play with their new toys. Whoever found the egg with the “Egg Got You!” note gets the “Grand Easter Bunny Prize:” an Easter basket filled with goodies, or a big chocolate Easter Bunny treat.

Step Five: Let the kids play, and serve lunch! In addition to lunch and punch, some other fun snack/food ideas: Baby carrots, Carrot Cake, and chocolate eggs of course!

  Step Six: After the Egg-Hunt, scrap the festivities and create a Holiday Digital Scrapbooking Project using the photos you took!

Include pics of each child searching for eggs, and include any funny conversations or moments as you scrap. Some adorable Digital Kits to use to scrap all the fun?

Custom brushes are so much fun to use within digital scrapbooking! You can use custom brushes to paint, draw, apply textures, and even “stamp” images onto your digital scrapbooking pages, and MORE!

A Custom Brush might look boring until you add a little color! But once you do, it’s amazing how interesting they can become! See how you can use them to “stamp” on your digital scrapbooking projects!

Use Brushes to add more detail to your Digital Scrapbooking Projects by using them like a Rubber Stamp!

A favorite way that digital scrapbookers like using the custom brushes is to use them in a similar way a traditional scrapbooker would use a rubber stamp; by picking up the ink on the stamp and “stamping”  on a paper, journal block or tag.

Custom brushes can be used like this… only a digital-version of a rubber stamp!

In the example above, you can see the brush in Photoshop Elements  was used as “stamp” with purple color, it was “stamped” on the journaling block.

To use this type of Brush, all you do is pick your custom brush, pick your color and “stamp” your digital journal block, tag, digital embellishment, digital paper or whatever you like!

Here is a Digital Scrapbooking page after we have “stamped” a brush on the journaling block!

Here is another example where the brush is stamped on a tag or digital scrapbooking Embellishment.

Here is what is happening when we “stamp” a color. For example, the image of of the black outline of the Easter Cross (above) is the actual brush tool moving away from the paper after “stamping”, and the image of the purple Easter Cross on the tag is the “stamped” brush after is is applied to the tag!

The black brush in the kit, now with color applied and “stamped,” makes the purple (or any color you choose) Easter Cross image!

You can see this same thing with the Easter Bunny and Egg in the image to the left! Once a color is used with the brush it can be stamp on a tag or anything else in your digital scrap project or page! Custom brushes to really make you digital scrapbooking pages special!

My mother made us always eat breakfast before we could see our Easter Baskets loaded with candy.

I think see was smart to have us eat breakfast first, then we didn’t fill up on candy and then be sick the rest of the day.

But just because we want our kids to have breakfast first doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!

How about making Easter Egg Pancakes for Easter breakfast?!

This makes it fun and memorable – yet it can be quick and easy too!

How to make Easter Egg Pancakes:

First, make it easy and use a pancake mix.

Here I am using a Gluten-free (wheat-free) pancake mix for my daughter that is allergic to wheat.

But you can use any pancake mix you have on hand.

Next, mix up the pancakes according to the directions on the mix.

Heat up you pan or griddle. Get out 3 bowls and food coloring.

Divide the batter between 3 bowls and use the food coloring to color each bowl of batter in Easter colors.

Here you can see I used pink, yellow and green.

Now I am ready to make my Easter Egg pancakes.

First I pour out the shape of the egg using one color in to my pan.

Then I use other colors to decorate my egg pancake.

Below you can see how two of my egg pancakes look as they are cooking!

These Easter Egg Pancakes make Easter morning extra fun.

What kid wouldn’t want to start Easter morning with a fun Easter Egg pancake?  Make Easter extra fun this year and when you take the time to make memories don’t forget to scrap the fun too!
