Are you tired of your old fonts that came with your computer?

If so how about getting a few new Winter fonts and using them in new ways too?

The first way to use a font is just to type with it!

After you have picked your new font and downloaded it, just add the font to your computer font collection. Then start scrapping with it!

After you type with with the font then you might want to spice up your project by adding a Drop Shadow to the text make it come alive like in the example below:

Or add a Bevel to change the look and make it pop on the digital scrapbooking page!

These are simple ways to make your new fonts look great!

Fill Font with Multiple Color in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

To add Multi-Colors to Text, this works mainly when a font has some extra space inside the letters or in any parts of the designs around the letters that include empty space.

Special Note: There are many great fonts available online for free. Before you download a font, make sure you trust the source. Also, make sure to have an anti-virus software on your computer and run a scan often, as sometime virus come in font folders.

This is how it looks when we just type it into our digital scrapbooking project

Not really that exciting, but we can simplify it in Photoshop or Elements and start adding different colors into the spaces! That really makes it special!

The reason it works so well is the space inside the font we can use to color multiple colors!

That space can quickly be used with multiple colors to enhance the design of the text!

Then after you have added the colors you might want to add a drop shadow and/or bevel to dress up and finish off the project!

Once you have installed your font and typed some text on your digital scrapbooking page then you can also colorize it, and add a drop shadow and bevel to your font. This makes the text look like WordArt!!!

Next Idea: Another fun thing to do with a font is to get one that looks like images, and can be used like a shape or embellishment! See the example below:

I am determined to capture the memory of my sons’ senior year and make it a year that our family will remember forever. So I am scrapping a few images each month of his Senior year, and when he graduates I will have all the scrap pages printed and bound into a lovely album. Football and Digital Scrapbooking

Who can think about September without thinking about football? In our home football is something we eat drink and sleep. Not the NFL teams so much, but our hometown football team.

Our son is a Senior this year. He is a starter on our High School Football team that my husband happens to coach.

So this year I think it is a great idea to add a football page to his Senior scrapbook that I am making to surprise him at the end of the year. This will be the September section in the scrapbooking album.

I will add a few digital scrapbooking pages in this section of the album.

I think it would be fun to add some old photos that I scanned of him when he was a little boy dressing up and playing football and include his current photo too! See the info on the mobile scanner towards the bottom of this article!

He has always loved the sport! And I think he will enjoy seeing old photos in his special album along the new ones too!

As I scrap my September pages I am going to focus on his Senior football picture. I am so excited for this page. I may even add a picture of him in his letterman’s jacket.

I know that September is going to be one of my favorite months to scrap for him. With back to school Senior pictures and football photos as the first two or three pages in the album I can’t go wrong!

I think I will do some extra fun digital scrapping and use some sports brushes (Sports Custom Brush Set) in Elements to make my digital pages! See what my scrap page looks like after I have scrapped with some custom brushes. The Go Team is a custom brush too!

It also makes me so excited for what is to come in my digital scrapbooking adventure of scrapping a couple of pages for my son’s album.

Next month I am looking forward to the homecoming dance and Halloween activities.

Each month is going to go by so fast, however I refuse to let them just slip away as I am saving these precious memories by digital scrapbooking them.

So bring on the Senior activities and GO RAMS! (or whatever you favorite team may be).

As digital scrapbookers, we usually get all excited about all the flashy Digital Scrapbooking Kits, digital embellishments, digital papers, and forget about the Custom Brushes for using in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Custom Brushes compared to a digital scrapbooking kits, the black custom brush kits don’t look that exciting. They usually just look like black, white and shades of gray images – how boring! But for anyone that has used a custom brush they will tell you custom brushes are wonderful and have many more uses than you might first guess too!

For example, the Sports Custom Brush Set , (see the image on the left) is how a brush kit might look when you go to Scrap Shop and look at bushes you might want to buy.

Usually, custom brushes are shown in variations of black and gray colors in the Scrap Shop.  But when you use your brush the magic begins as you load your own colors into the custom brush in your graphic program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Like magic, the custom brush doesn’t have to be black and gray anymore!

Another fun custom brush kit is the The “Join the Cookout” Custom Brushes. But again at first glance they don’t catch one’s eyes like scrap kits do. However, each custom brush is really a hidden treasure just waiting to be discovered!

Use Brushes to add more detail to your Digital Scrapbooking Projects!

A favorite way that digital scrapbookers like using the custom brushes is to use them in a similar way a traditional scrapbooker would use a rubber stamp; by picking up the ink on the stamp and “stamping”  on a paper or tag.

Well, custom brushes can be used like this… only a digital-version of a rubber stamp!

In the example above, you can see the brush in Photoshop Elements and the tag that was “stamped” with a green color.

You pick your custom brush, pick your color and “stamp” your digital tag, digital embellishment, digital paper or whatever you like!

For example, the image of the tag and the outline of the cookout food is the actual brush tool moving away from the paper after “stamping”, and the image of the green cookout food on the tag is the “stamped” brush after is is applied to the tag! The black brush in the kit, now with color applied and “stamped,” makes the green cookout food image!

Here is how it looks when you are done – see image below:

You can see how this tag with it’s special cookout design is more exciting than just a regular tag with text!

And of course you can use custom brushes to really make you digital scrapbooking pages special!

This example is nice to look at because it shows digital scrapbooking supplies and custom brushes that made this digital scrapbooking page.

Plus it shows several examples of the “stamped” brush technique that is so popular for those who want their digital scrapbooking projects and pages to look like they used a rubber stamp!

This is one of the easiest ways to get started in using digital scrapbooking Custom Brushes.

Also you can use custom brushes for projects you plan to print.

One fun way to use custom brushes is to “Stamp” them on a project you plan to print like a invitation or place card. Below is an image of a Place Card template in Photoshop Elements, and I am stamping on some brushes to design the place card for my next summer cookout party!

More ways to use Custom Brushes!

But don’t stop yet! Custom brushes can be use to enhance Greeting Cards, Thank You cards,  Invitations, and so much more!

For example in the image above you can see all the red arrows pointing to places we used custom brushes to enhance this Thank You card! You can see that custom brushes come in handy making Cards, and Invitations!

Just by using the the Sports brush set found in the Scrap Shop,  to “stamp” a pattern on the Thank You Cards above, then customizing the card with some digital scrapbooking supplies, text and photos, our cards where special and personalized unlike store bought cards. Now all we had to do was print and we are ready to go!

Did you know that you can turn your digital scrapbooking custom brushes into your very own coloring pages for your kids? You are not alone… many people don’t know about this simple brush trick!

Creating games and crafts to keep your kids preoccupied, busy, and happy is always a constant challenges as a mother! It can be hard to think of new activities… in fact, it can seem like a full-time job!

Custom brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create in quick coloring pages for kids. Coloring Pages made from custom brushes can save money and keep children entertained during the summer. You can make any theme color pages for children to color while your are busy!

Did you know that you can turn your digital scrapbooking custom brushes into your very own coloring pages for your kids? You are not alone… many people don’t know about this simple brush trick!

Creating games and crafts to keep your kids preoccupied, busy, and happy is always a constant challenges as a mother! It can be hard to think of new activities… in fact, it can seem like a full-time job!

But, Custom Brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create in quick coloring pages for kids. Coloring Pages made from custom brushes can save money and keep children entertained during Thanksgiving.

Custom brushes are easy to use, and once you get into digital scrapbooking, you will absolutely love them! If you get the right set of Custom Brushes then you can easily turn them into coloring pages and fun activities for children!

Here is the secret to a good brush to use for a coloring page - if you use a brush that looks more like line art (instead of more solid-looking digital brush) then you can enlarge the size of the brush, stamp it on a digital page, and then print it out for a home-made coloring page! Or if your design has lots of areas already filled in. Select it those areas and delete them and then your design will be more open for a coloring page.

Using the same custom brush set (Easter Day Brush Set), I selected the Easter Cross and Easter Egg brush and “stamped” them on separate new documents in Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop).

I liked this brush set because it had designs that where open like the cross and for the Easter Egg design I was able to select area that were solid and delete them to make them more open to make the perfect coloring page! After I “stamped” the brushes out on my pages,  then I used my home printer to print it out.

Just like magic, now I have a great coloring page to give to the kids! 

Don’t forget the crayons!

This makes great coloring pages for kids to do while I prepare the Thanksgiving dinner!

After they are all colored then you can glue them on a larger colored paper and turn them into a place mat for Easter dinner too!

Also, if you want “stamp” a few extra on place cards and have the children color those too! That will make dinner fun and memorable, and in addition keep the children engaged and busy too!

A Custom Brush might look boring until you add a little color! But once you do, it’s amazing how interesting they can become! See how you can use them to “stamp” on your digital scrapbooking projects!

Use Brushes to add more detail to your Digital Scrapbooking Projects by using them like a Rubber Stamp!

A favorite way that digital scrapbookers like using the custom brushes is to use them in a similar way a traditional scrapbooker would use a rubber stamp; by picking up the ink on the stamp and “stamping”  on a paper, journal block or tag.

Custom brushes can be used like this… only a digital-version of a rubber stamp!

In the example above, you can see the brush in Photoshop Elements  was used as “stamp” with purple color, it was “stamped” on the journaling block.

To use this type of Brush, all you do is pick your custom brush, pick your color and “stamp” your digital journal block, tag, digital embellishment, digital paper or whatever you like!

Here is a Digital Scrapbooking page after we have “stamped” a brush on the journaling block!

Here is another example where the brush is stamped on a tag or digital scrapbooking Embellishment.

Here is what is happening when we “stamp” a color. For example, the image of of the black outline of the Easter Cross (above) is the actual brush tool moving away from the paper after “stamping”, and the image of the purple Easter Cross on the tag is the “stamped” brush after is is applied to the tag!

The black brush in the kit, now with color applied and “stamped,” makes the purple (or any color you choose) Easter Cross image!

You can see this same thing with the Easter Bunny and Egg in the image to the left! Once a color is used with the brush it can be stamp on a tag or anything else in your digital scrap project or page! Custom brushes to really make you digital scrapbooking pages special!

Here is another example where the custom brush is actually “stamped” on to the digital scrapbooking paper to make it look like part of the paper design – see below:

These are nice examples to look at because they shows custom brushes used with other digital supplies and photos that made these digital scrapbooking pages.

Plus it shows several examples of the “stamped” brush technique that is so popular for those who want their digital scrapbooking projects and pages to look like they used a rubber stamp!

Learn about Spooky Halloween Brushes for Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

One of the fun things to use when Digital Scrapbooking within Photoshop or Photoshop Elements are Custom Brushes! Custom Brushes are basically a digital version of a rubber stamp, and can be “stamped” on Digital Scrapbook Projects as adorable embellishments!How to use a digital brush as a stamp is easy, after loading a custom brush and picking out its color (like choosing the ink to go on the bottom of a stamp a physical rubber stamp), you can apply the brush and “stamp” it onto your digital scrapbooking page.

In the example, we are using Photoshop Elements (works like this in Photoshop too) and we have selected the brush which is a witch hat. Next, we selected black as the color and with our mouse positioned it on our purple digital scrapbook paper and clicked once to “stamp” on the image.

Once you start stamping with custom brushes it is hard to stop!

It was fun to stamp a Spooky Witch Hat from the Digital Scrapbooks and More’s Witch Brush Set. Or choose the Witch’s Broom or Boots, a creepy tree… or even a Halloween set of a moon with stars! Before we were done with our digital scrapbooking project we had used several other custom brushes from the set on the right.

Not only can use Brushes to create stamps, but you can also use a Custom Brush for cutting out the shape custom brushes. They can also be used as a cut-out tool!

To do this, you load the Custom Brush, and choose the Eraser tool instead of the Brush tool to “punch” out the shape. This makes an outline of the shape, design, or pattern, and allows the background beneath it to show through!

For example, after selecting the eraser tool, we select the custom brush – bat. Next with our mouse we click on the black digital paper and it cuts the shape of the brush out (bat) and exposes the purple digital paper below. Now the cut out looks like the paper below.

Begin experimenting with Custom Brushes, starting THIS Halloween by using the Digital Scrapbooks and More’s Brush Set. You could use the Bat Brush to “cut-out” a bat from a digital scrapbooking paper showing the digital paper below in a that shape or use it to “Stamp on” a bat! Or you might want to Stamp or Cut a ghost, spider, pumpkins, or a cat! Choose both the Witch Brush Set and the Halloween Brush Set to complete this years’ Halloween Digital Scrapbooking Projects!

Try something new and exciting with these spooky Brushes- just in time for Halloween!

As a digital scrapbookers, we usually get all excited about all the flashy Digital Scrapbooking Kits and forget about the custom Brushes for using in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Compared to a digital scrapbooking kits, the black custom brush kits don’t look that exciting,  however, in every brush kit is a magical scrapbooking tool just waiting to be released to work magic on your next digital scrapbooking project!

Custom Brushes Bring out the Magic in Digital Scrapbooking!

For example, the Halloween Witch Brush Set , (see the image on the left) is how a brush kit might look.

Usually, custom brushes are variations of black and gray colors only when you first get them. But when you use your brush the magic begins as you load your own colors into the brush. Like magic, the custom brush doesn’t have to be black anymore!

A favorite way that digital scrapbookers like using the custom brushes is to use them like how a traditional scrapbookers would use a rubber stamp; picking up the ink on the stamp and “stamping” on to a paper.

Well, custom brushes can be used like this… only a digital-version of a rubber stamp!

Use Custom Brushes Like Rubber Stamps

Digital scrapbookers can use Photoshop Brushes to replicate a rubber stamp by loading a custom brush set into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, choosing the brush like one from the Halloween Witch Brush set, picking a color, and “stamping” it onto the digital scrapbooking project.

For example, the image of the tag and the outline of the witch shoes is the actual brush tool moving away from the paper after “stamping”, and the image of the purple shoes on the tag is the “stamped” brush after is is applied to the tag! The black brush in the kit, now with color applied and “stamped,” makes the purple shoes! Also, picking other colors and brushes, we “stamped” a witches hat and broom too! See how attractive the Halloween brushes made this Halloween tag? It is fun to have improve a simple tag and put it onto a Halloween Scrap Project- like below:

Custom Brushes Contain Even More Magic When you Colorize Them!

By taking a brush from the Halloween Brush Set and colorizing them, you can turn them into embellishments to add to your digital Halloween scrapbooking pages!

By colorizing, I mean to take a black and white (or gray-toned) custom brush and apply different colors to different areas of the brushed image. Doing this makes a black and gray-toned “stamped” brush look more like a colored brush embellishment …which means it can look and act more like a digital embellishment (like, adding drop shadow), than a simple-looking “stamped” brush image.

It’s common for beginner digital scrapbookers to overlook custom brushes when they add digital accessories to their digital scrapbooking projects. Many beginner scrappers aren’t as familiar with custom brushes and don’t realize the potential of a good custom brush, especially when they’re choosing supplies filled with pretty, sparkly, eye-catching digital embellishments! But you can also turn your brushes into fancy embellishments if you simply colorize them!

Step 1: ”Stamp” the brush. I took this custom brush and applied it to a new document using black as the outline color within Photoshop Elements (you can also do this in Photoshop).  This brush is great because it was designed as an outline-brush… which is perfect for us to colorize in the following steps.

Step 2: Colorize your “stamped” brush!

Truthfully, a custom brush might look a little boring unless you decide to add a little color! Once you apply some color to your custom brush, it’s amazing how they can change right before your eyes and become so colorful and exciting!

Next, I applied different colors to the brush image. Adding a little color works wonders, and yes, because I did take a few extra steps to personalize the brush, I could color it in the way that I wanted it to be colored! Unlike pre-colored digital embellishments, I could color my brush embellishment in any colors I want! After seeing this change in the brush embellishment, brushes are starting to seem a lot more magical, aren’t they?!

Step 3: Add some effects- like a drop shadow.

Yes, if done correctly you can now add a drop shadow to your colorized brush embellishment. A drop shadow will make it appear more 3-D and less like a flat image.

Once a brush is colorized you can add them to your Halloween Scrapbooking pages or projects!

The magic of custom brushes doesn’t end with colorizing them… brushes can also be used for creating your very own coloring pages too!

Did you know that you can turn your digital scrapbooking custom brushes into your very own coloring pages for your kids? You are not alone… many people don’t know about this simple brush trick!

Creating games and crafts to keep your kids preoccupied, busy, and happy is always a constant challenges as a mother! It can be hard to think of new activities… in fact, it can seem like a full-time job!

Custom brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create in quick coloring pages for kids. Coloring Pages made from custom brushes can save money and keep children entertained during Halloween-time.

Using the same custom brush set (Halloween Brush Set), I selected the cat brush and “stamped” on a new document in Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop). I liked this brush set because it had lots of designs that were in outlines, perfect for a coloring page! After I “stamped” the Halloween cat brush out on my page, then I used my home printer to print it out. Just like magic, now I have a great coloring page to give to the kids!  Don’t forget the crayons!

The more you use custom brushes the more magical things you will find to do with them!

As digital scrapbookers, we usually get all excited about all the flashy Digital Scrapbooking Kits, digital embellishments, digital papers, and forget about the Custom Brushes for using in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Custom Brushes compared to a digital scrapbooking kits, the black custom brush kits don’t look that exciting. They usually just look like black, white and shades of gray images – how boring! But for anyone that has used a custom brush they will tell you custom brushes are wonderful and have many more uses than you might first guess too!

For example, the Sports Custom Brush Set , (see the image on the left) is how a brush kit might look when you go to Scrap Shop and look at bushes you might want to buy.

Usually, custom brushes are shown in variations of black and gray colors in the Scrap Shop.  But when you use your brush the magic begins as you load your own colors into the custom brush in your graphic program like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Like magic, the custom brush doesn’t have to be black and gray anymore!

Another fun custom brush kit is the The “Join the Cookout” Custom Brushes. But again at first glance they don’t catch one’s eyes like scrap kits do. However, each custom brush is really a hidden treasure just waiting to be discovered!

Use Brushes to add more detail to your Digital Scrapbooking Projects!

A favorite way that digital scrapbookers like using the custom brushes is to use them in a similar way a traditional scrapbooker would use a rubber stamp; by picking up the ink on the stamp and “stamping”  on a paper or tag.

Well, custom brushes can be used like this… only a digital-version of a rubber stamp!

In the example above, you can see the brush in Photoshop Elements and the tag that was “stamped” with a green color.

You pick your custom brush, pick your color and “stamp” your digital tag, digital embellishment, digital paper or whatever you like!

And of course you can use custom brushes to really make you digital scrapbooking pages special!

This example is nice to look at because it shows digital scrapbooking supplies and custom brushes that made this digital scrapbooking page.

Plus it shows several examples of the “stamped” brush technique that is so popular for those who want their digital scrapbooking projects and pages to look like they used a rubber stamp!

This is one of the easiest ways to get started in using digital scrapbooking Custom Brushes.

Also you can use custom brushes for projects you plan to print.

One fun way to use custom brushes is to “Stamp” them on a project you plan to print like a invitation or place card. Below is an image of a Place Card template in Photoshop Elements, and I am stamping on some brushes to design the place card for my next summer cookout party!

Summer Cookout Ideas and Tips!

Whether you’re single, a family with four kids (two dogs, and three fish), or the new young couple on the block, spend some time with family and friends this weekend at a BBQ, Cookout, or Picnic!

Because these summer events are a great way to get friends and family together, they make great photo-catching opportunities for our digital camera! Make new memories and remember this year’s wonderful summer activities on film. Once you have captured these fun summer memories, preserve them by turning them into Digital Scrapbooking Albums.

So get out there, get your grilling tongs and digital camera and start creating fun filled summer memories! Enjoy these tips for the ultimate BBQ, Cookout, or Picnic, this year.

4 Tips to Create fantastic summer memories at your next Cookout, BBQ or Picnic

Tip 1: Keep Your Food Fresh. One thing that really can ruin memories quickly is food that spoils because it is not kept at safe temperatures. One example that stands out in my mind, when I was a teen I was at a family cookout where the main dish was grilled fish. That was great except for the fact that the raw fish wasn’t kept cold enough before it was grilled and sat under
a tree for hours before it was grilled. It spoiled the fish and the family became very sick shortly thereafter. Not fun. Unfortunately, this simple cookout step did not create fun summer memories, and everyone who attended remembers how sick they got! To this day, my father still can’t eat any fish because of this unfortunate experience!

So, remember to keep foods fresh and cold so that you can Digitally Scrap photos later that won’t bring back unpleasant memories!

Idea for keeping food cold: Get a cheap, inflatable kiddie-pool and fill with ice! This makes for a more affordable, inflatable buffet or drink-cooler!

Tip 2: Add One New Event to Create New Memories. Incorporate new traditions each time you host a BBQ or event. This might be a new family game, a new food, or anything that sets your event apart from other ones in the past. Adding something new makes special new memories and gets others excited about the BBQ, Cookout or Picnic’s festivities.

My sister-in-law created a fun event for us one year that really pumped some fun into our typical family reunions. She separated the girl from the boys and assigned each group to go around the reunion with tape recorders, digital cameras, and
video recorders to interview family members at the picnic.

The questions were different for the two groups and included questions like, “Find Aunt Cheri and ask her what her favorite song is and the last one she listened to on her iPod” or “Locate Grandma and ask her when she knew she was in love with Grandpa”.

At the end of the reunion she had lots of great Digital Photos, recorded interviews, and video of all the family members at the reunion … plus, it was a entertaining activity that was new and exciting– instead of all regular, typical family reunion games!

Ideas to Add New Games: You can create a memorable event by planning a couple of fun games to entertain guests. There is no reason to spend lots of money on picnic games, as many fun games are FREE, found on these websites: Basket4Picnic.com or see this article: Outdoor Games to Rock the Picnic Don’t forget to take lots of photos as you play the games!

Tip 3: Record the Event with your Digital Camera and Video Camera. It is so sad to have the best memories and not have any photos of the great event. I wonder how we can let so many special times go unrecorded. If you forget your camera then take out your cell phone and snap some photos anyway.

Make it a habit to bring your camera with you everywhere. Throw it in your purse and try to keep it with you. Think of it like your cell phone and bring it with you as much as you can. Your digital camera is the best bet for Digitally Scrapbooking your special summer memories!

Bonus Tip: I am a total Digital Camera snob, but out of experience, I know it’s smart to always have a “throw away camera” in my trunk just in case! If I forget my good camera, I always have an emergency-back up so I never have to miss any priceless,memory-making moments.

Here are few products that might help you even take better photos to hang onto precious Cookout memories:

• Get a tripod! No need to leave anyone out of the BBQ photos! Get everyone in your pictures by using a tripod. It can bend around things like a tree branch to help you get the shot you want without carrying a larger tripod with long legs!
• Get a Digital SLR Camera. This camera is expensive, but more than worth it if you want hardcore, professional-looking photos. Once you see how great the photos are with higher-end digital camera, it will be hard to go back to anything else!

Two reasons why we like Digital SLRs … first, the shutter speeds are faster
(which means less blurry photos, better action shots… like when the kids play tag football or are just being kids!).  The second reason, is the ability to use a different lens, like the close up lens that can focus super-close on a
butterfly on a flower, or take a picture of the whole park from a wide angle lens!

These make better photos for Digital Scrapbooking Projects later on!

Remember, whenever you start with a better picture you can have more
options in digital scrapbooking!

Tip 4: Scrap your Summer BBQ, Cookout or Family Picnic! Digitally Scrap your event by making invitations to your BBQ, Cookout, or Picnic ahead of time in order to make them personalized and absolutely
adorable. Also, don’t forget to scrap the event after it is over too!

Keep the memories alive by taking your photos and putting them on Digital Scrapbooking Pages! Take all the scrap pages from your event and combine them into Digital Scrapbooking Albums.
