In yesterdays blog, (Digital Scrapping with PDF Documents Like this Cute Fairy Frame!), we talked about turning a PDF document into a digital scrapbooking embellishment. But what if the PDF document has multiple pages? How do we use that? It is easy to get one page PDF documents into Photoshop or Elements, but one might ask, “how do you get a multi-page PDF doc to work?”
In this article we will explain it, and we also tell you about some great summer camp themed PDF documents that are fun to digitally scrap too!
Here are the steps to scrap multi-page PDF files in digital scrapbooking projects!
Step 1: Go to the website that has the multi-page PDF document you want use in your scrapbooking project, and save it to your computer. ![]()
Here are a few summer camp multi-page PDFs that you might check out
Summer Scrap Cover and Stickers ~ from FamilyFun
Summer Camp Scrapbook Pages ~ from FamilyFun
Camp Letter with Stickers ~ from FamilyFun
Then, save the document to your computer.
Save the document to a place on your computer that you can find easily.
Step 2: Next, open the PDF document in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
When you try to open it, you will get a pop-up in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop (it works the same in Photoshop even though we are illustrating in Elements).
The pop-up window will show all the pages in the PDF document. For example this Summer Camp PDF document has 3 pages (#1)
You can open more than one page by holding the Ctrl Key (Mac: Cmd Key) down as you click on each of document icon you want to open (#1) , make and select the settings (#2). Make sure settings like that RGB Color mode is selected (#2). Next click OK button (#3).
In this example we selected only 2 of the 3 pages and made sure the RGB color mode was selected before we clicked on the OK button.
Now those pages that where selected are brought into the workspace
(Page 1 and Page 2 are now in Photoshop Elements workspace)
If you want more PDF pages to work with then you can repeat the steps above with other PDF documents
For example I wanted the other Summer Camp Scrapbook Pages from FamilyFun, so I repeated the steps and brought them into the workspace as well.![]()
Now we have the PDF documents into Elements (or Photoshop) they can be scrapped.
Step 3: Scrap it! Bring in other digital scrapbooking supplies (like the Goals and Resolutions Scrap Kit), and your digital photos to start scrapping your Summer Camp Scrap Project.
You might have to use some of the tools in Photoshop or Elements like the crop tool, marquee tool and more to make the PDF work in a scrapbooking project. Also, it might look nice to add some affects to the PDF scrap embellishments like a drop shadow. See the the image above, the PDF has been cropped then added to a digital scrapbooking page, then a drop shadow has been applied, and then a digital photo and other scrapbooking embellishments are added to complete the look.
Do the same thing with some of the other PDF pages, and scrap them too! Use other digital scrapbooking supplies and your camp photos!
Step 4: Turn your Summer Camp scrapbooking project into a digital Album (PDF formant) and email to Grandma!![]()
After having made a digital scrapbooking Summer Camp pages in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements you can then save them, and turn them into a digital PDF album!
