If you are a traditional scrapbooker you probably have used brads in your traditional scrapbooking projects. Brads are those little fasteners that are used in scrapbooking to hold in photos or other scrapbooking embellishments on the scrapbooking pages.
One might think of brads mainly in round shapes, but the reality is that brads come in all sorts of shapes!
One shape that is fun to use in scrapbooking is the star shaped brad.
This is all well and good if you are a traditional scrapbooker but what if you are a digital scrapbooker?
How do you make a digital brad? Yesterday we talked about how to make a round digital brad in Photoshop Elements, and today we are going to talk about making a digital star brad in Photoshop!
Make a Digital Star Brad in Photoshop
It is easy to create a digital star (or other shape) brad in Photoshop.
Here are the 4 steps to make a digital Star brad in Photoshop :
Step 1: Create a new Document.
- Select File>New
- New Document Settings: 2×2 inches, 300 ppi, transparent background
- Click Ok
Step 2: Pick a Color
Step 3: Select the Shape Tool
- Pick the Star shape
- Draw out the star on your document
- Go to the layer panel and right click and select Rasterize Layer

Step 4: Add a Bevel and Make Adjustments
- In the Layers Panel, choose star layer and click on fx at bottom of panel, select Bevel and Emboss
- Choose settings. In this example, we selected: Inner Bevel, Smooth, Depth 307%, Direction – up, Size 73 px, Soften 0
- If you like add a drop shadow too
- Click OK when you are are done
Now you have created a Star Digital Brad for your Digital Scrapbooking Page!
Now put the digital scrapbooking star brad on your digital scrapbooking page.
It is just that easy to create digital scrapbooking star brads in Photoshop!
