Have you ever scanned an old photo and got it crooked? Have you ever taken a photo that wasn’t straight too? Do you want to know how to straighten it in Photoshop Elements 8?

Here is how to fix a crooked photo in Elements:

Step 1: Bring the crooked photo into Photoshop Elements workspace.

Here I have scanned an old photo of my mother, and I got it in the scanner a bit crooked.

But even though it is crooked, in Photoshop Elements I can use the tools to straighten this photo.

Step 2: Select the Straighten Tool.

You can click on the straighten tool in the tool bar or use the handy shortcut key P  to get this tool in Photoshop Elements.

Step 3: With the Straighten Tool selected draw a line along the bottom of the image.

When drawing the line follow the crooked edge, this helps Photoshop Elements know how to correct it.

See how this image is level?  Photoshop Elements  has fixed the problem

Step 4: Crop photo, if necessary.

In my scanned photo, I have some extra white space around my photo, so I will us the crop tool to get rid of this

Now my photo isn’t crooked any more and doesn’t have the extra white space my scanner left around the edges.

At this point it would be good to save your photo. Tip: name this new photo something different from the original as not to lose the original.

I now could use my fixed digital photo to scrap with and make a digital scrapbooking page, or even to make into another digital scrapbooking project like a card, apron, calendar or  mouse pad!

This helpful information can really help when you need a crooked photo fixed fast!
