This week treat your child to a fun St Patrick’s Day Snack!
When I was small my mother always had a special after school snack for us when we got home from school. I remember the house filled with the scent of freshly baked cinnamon rolls and other handmade treats!
I loved it as a child but I don’t have time to make everything from scratch like my mother did, so I need to take short cuts – but still wanted that fun feeling for my children.
Here are some magical after school snacks that can be fun – but are easy and time saving too!
Here are some St Patrick’s Day snack ideas:
Lucky Green Celery and Cucumber Dipping Snack
One super easy and delicious snack that you can make quickly for an after school snack is this Lucky Green Celery and Cucumber dip. To make, cut up some celery slices and cucumber wedges. Add some green food coloring to cream cheese, mix thoroughly and put into a dish to serve as dip for the vegetables.
Shamrock Shakes
In a blender put two cups of milk, two cups lime sherbet, and two ripe bananas. Then blend together and its ready to serve.
Leprechaun Punch
Fill a punch bowl with 7-up then add several scoops of lime sherbet, as the sherbet melts it turns the soda green.
St Patrick’s Day Magic Pot of Soup
Coat the inside of a crock pot with green food coloring (before the children
get home!). Then the children add any cream based soup, and let the children start to stir. They will be surprised that Magic Pot of soup turns green!!

Use Custom St. Patrick’s Day Brushes to help make your after school snack!
Here is a recipe for another after school snack that you can use a custom brush as a template to make a fun Shamrock Cookie!
Follow the easy steps to make your own:
Step 1: Load the St. Patrick’s Day Brush Set in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements — and pick the clover brush. Make a new document, resize the brush to cookie size and “stamp” the brush on the document. Then Print it.

Once you have printed the clover or “shamrock” on a paper – cut out the the shamrock. Now you have a template for your cookie design!
Step 2: Make a sugar cookie from your favorite recipe or use pre-made sugar cookie dough. You will also need some colored sugar – you can make this with sugar and food coloring, or buy it pre-made to save time. I also cut some of the extra paper away from my shamrock template so it would be easier to use with the cookie.
Next slice the pre-made cookies into 1/4 inch slices (or roll and cut into circles homemade cookie dough). Then, I took my hand and flattened the cookies a bit – so my template would fit better on the on cookie.
Then I put the template over the cookies and got my green colored sugar.
I sprinkled the colored sugar over the Shamrock template and then pressed the extra sugar into the shape. Remove the template, and put on next cookie – repeat sprinkling on each cookie till all have green Shamrock sugar shapes.
Then bake the cookies according to the recipe.
Step 3: Serve Cookies with Green Milk (milk with a few drops of green food coloring added). This makes a very fun after school snake for St Patrick’s Day!
Step 4: To keep the memories by taking photos and scrapping them!
