St Patrick’s Day will be here soon and it is so fun to scrap the event and create great activities for children and grown ups too!
For example one activity that I think is fun for children is to color Shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day.
But some times it is hard to find this type of image to let your children color. Especially when all the color books these days seem to focus on cartoon characters.
Here is one idea we talked about last year that is great to use.
Create Coloring Pages for St Patrick’s Day With Photoshop or Elements Custom Brushes
(Originally posted 3/5/2009)
Use St. Patrick’s Day Custom Brushes to make Coloring Pages for Kids!
Brushes are definitely one of the easiest ways to create in a pinch, a quick coloring page for kids and adults (If you are a kid at heart too!)
These Coloring Pages made from Custom Brushes can save money and keeps children entertained during the holidays and other times too!
It is easy to make crafts such as coloring pages for kids by just using custom brushes in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements!
To Make a Coloring Page as a Craft Project Using Custom Brushes Do the Following:
To create a coloring page, you need a brush that is more of an outline than a solid brush.
Purchase a digital brush set such as the St Patrick’s Day Brush Set, then load the brush into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
Next make a new 8.5 x 11 digital scrapbooking page so it can be printed out in a home printer.
Then adjust the brush so that it fits on the page, and stretch it out as large as possible without extending it off the page. Now “Stamp” it on the Page. Another way is to “Stamp” the brush on several different places on the page instead of just one large image now you have multiple images on a page for coloring!
Print and serve with crayons and Waa-Laa! You’re done. It’s that easy!
If you want an entire coloring book, you can combine several pages of stamped brushes, add colored construction paper on the front and back of the pages, hole punch all the papers, tie pretty holiday-inspired yarn through the pages’ holes, and you have created a perfectly personalized holiday coloring book!

Once you have a custom brush set like the St Patrick’s Day Brush Set then you can use them to make coloring pages as nice afternoon activity for your children and then later you can also use them in your digital scrapbooking pages too!
In the image above I used brushes from St Patrick’s Day Brush Set to “stamp” some extra designs on my digital scrapbooking page. See the red arrows showing the brush tool (outline) and the final “stamp” the leprechaun hat and St Patrick’s Day Button.
I was able to get double duty out of this brush set making a great activity for my children, taking photos of them coloring the coloring pages I had made from scrapbooking and then using the same brush set to make wonderful scrap pages by “stamping” on some extra designs!
I hope you have a wonderful March and try some of these fun activates with your children – and even use a few brushes for some of your scrapbooking projects too!
Happy Scrapping!
