Another endless day with too much to do and not enough time? If so you live in the same world that I do.
I run off to work in the morning, only after doing two 5:30 am paper routes with the kids and making sure they all get off to school with lunch and homework in hand! All this before 7 am!
Some days I want to go back to bed before I ever get started. Sound familiar to anyone? I am sure there are other parents out there that are busy too!
It doesn’t stop – after 7 am the adventure continues…….
Today I was met at the door of work by the schools secretary only to hear the stressful news that I had three volunteers call in today to cancel for one 
reason or another. First of all, it is so awesome to have really great volunteers at our school and second of all, I just am so impressed that they all had the dedication to call and let me know they wouldn’t be in. After all, they do live in the same busy world that I do.
However, having 3 volunteers absent left me in a lurch. Two of the situations were easy fixes but I had one class that the volunteer was supposed to teach an art hour to 5th grade students. This is a tough crowd and not one that I wanted to fill in for and so to the telephone I went to call a mom that never lets me down when I’m in a tough spot.
Sure enough, she was willing to run on over and teach the class. The only problem was that her four year old daughter was going to be with her and would get restless before the class was over. So, instead of teaching an art class, I volunteered to babysit her daughter at the school. A fun task that I was more than happy to do, but now I needed a quick activity to do with her.
Now the question was “how to entertain a small child?”
I got some inspiration, since I only had my lap top computer with me I started Photoshop Elements, made a couple of new documents and loaded a couple of my custom brushes (the Happy Birthday Custom Digital Brush Set and the Layered Snowman Brushes)
I had learned about a great children’s activity using custom 
brushes to make coloring pages. I had learned about custom brushes from taking the custom brush training and making the custom brush images into coloring pages from this article: More Kid-Friendly Summer Activities: Making Coloring Pages with Digital Scrapbooking Custom Brushes!
So with this idea of a quick way to entertain a child with only a laptop on hand, I “stamped” some balloons, and a birthday cake from Happy Birthday Custom Digital Brush Set on a couple of my new documents I had just created in Photoshop Elements. 
This is very easy to do in Elements and could also be done in Photoshop. In fact it was so easy that you could as quickly just say, “birthday cake” and in that same amount of time I had two coloring pages!
I didn’t stop there – I would need a couple of coloring pages to keep this little angel busy while her mom taught art class. So next, I loaded the Layered Snowman Brushes, this gave me lots of options. I could make a snowman with accessories or I could make basic shapes of a snowman family and have the little girl color in the details!
I decide to make both types of snowmen coloring pages as you can see above. Next, I printed off some copies of the these coloring pages made from custom brushes and printed them off.
The Happy Birthday Custom Digital Brush Set and the Layered Snowman 
Brushes made great coloring pages for her to show her mom proudly. I was so glad I had such a quick solution to keeping a child busy.
When I printed all the coloring pages out, all I needed was some crayons to get her started!
While she was busy coloring the custom brush coloring pages I just made. I thought I better have another activity on hand in case she got done before the class ended.
So I got another idea from my digital scrapbooking supplies!
Lucky for me I keep some digital scrapbooking kits in a folder on my lap top computer.
So I got busy loading the Hearts Digital Scrapbooking Kit into Photoshop Elements.
It was so fun to use because I made a new document added some heart embellishments to the document.
It was just that easy to make! I only needed to print, to have another fun activity all made quickly from digital scrapbooking supplies.
When the little angel was done coloring, I gave her some scissors and then let her cut out the hearts and glue to put them on the colored paper.
Next, I helped her write a love note to give to her parents and one for her brothers and sister. We had a great time together. I guess you could say we had our own little art class!
So when you find yourself in a lurch of some kind on a very busy day, use your imagination and maybe Digital Scrapbooks and More and there Digital Scrapbooking Supplies or Training can save your day as it did mine this time and on many other occasions as well.
