A Mouse Pad from a Digital Scrapbooking Page

Dec 11th, 2009 by Cheri Barlow | 0

Make a mouse pad from a digital scrapbooking page I was looking at my mouse pad the other day and noticed that it is was looking pretty worn – plus it was boring just a blue mouse pad – no design – no pattern! Boring!

I went to the store and looked at the mouse pads – some with cats, some with landscapes, all “ok” but not really that great – and also to my surprise the were around $10! More than I thought they would be for off-the-shelf mouse pads!

So, I thought maybe I would make one with one of my digital scrapbooking pages instead! The regular price for this type of mouse pad is about $7 – $12. About the same price as the store bought ones, only with this one you make with your own digital scrapbooking page(s) and  can be of just the photos you want!

Make mouse pads at online companiesHowever, I was really surprise when I opened my holiday email and got a discount coupon at WinkFlash.com, an online printing company that just happened to be offering the best deal on mouse pads I had ever seen – mouse pads for only $1.99! Only thing – you had to order that day!

It was a no brainer for me – I had been thinking about making and ordering mouse pads and this price was really great! But I had to act quickly to get this great price! Lucky for me, I had just made a calendar with scrapbooking pages at another online printing company and already had the right kind of scrap pages made! Using online companies to make mouse pads from digital scrapbooking pages

I wanted to order 3 different mouse pads at this price! So I quickly uploaded my digital scrapbooking pages, pressed the mouse pad option and moved my scrap pages around so they fit the within the crop marks and then ordered my 3 mouse pads for only $6! I got three mouse pads for less than the price of one!

When good Holiday deals come around you need to be ready to take advantage of the deals.

Here are some tips if you want to make mouse pads for holiday gifts too!

Tip 1: Make your scrap page 11×8.5” or use Quick Pages that are 11×8.5” this format works best for mouse pads!

Tip 2: Make your digital scrapbooking pages ahead – so when you get a great offer you can instantly take advantage of it! (See the article on making a Calendar from Digital  Scrapbooking pages fast!)

Tip 3: Get video training to help you learn about making digital scrapbooking pages, saving correctly for online printing companies and how to use online printing companies – the Getting Started Series in Digital Scrapbooking covers all of these topics for either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements users!

Tip 4: Pick the mouse pad option (at the online company website). Pick the option for only one image for the mouse pad (instead of the collage option) – the one image option works the best for using a digital scrapbooking page.

Tip 5: At most online companies they let you edit your image a little bit on their website. Make sure you push the edit button and adjust your digital scrapbooking page within the crop marks – otherwise your scrap page mouse pad might get cut off in strange ways!  If you need to, after seeing how it will be cropped – you might want to make the adjustments in Photoshop or Elements to better fit the crop and then upload the image to the online printing company again – only this time with the corrected image!

Make a mouse pad from a digital scrapbooking pageIf you haven’t made any gifts via online printing companies, it is really fun to see your digital scrapbooking pages turned into great holiday gifts –  give it try this year!

And if you need a mouse pad – make them with some of your digital scrapbooking pages too!

Good luck in all your holiday gift making!
