This morning when I started up my car, Christmas music on the radio greeted me. As I listened I began to sing along in the dark as I drove to the gym. I arrived with a smile on my face and had to laugh as my friend came grumbling through the door. She started laughing too when she saw me laughing at her and we had a fun workout. Later, my husband called from work to ask me if I could bring him something that he had left at home. I told him I was busy but I would bring it anyway. As I again started up the car, music rang in my ears and I began to sing the familiar tune. I dropped off my husbands’ missing item, then he thanked me and started to walk away. I called to him, “Merry Christmas”. He turned around and smiled that smile I love so much and continued on his way. It was the music, how can you be grouchy at 5:30 am or any other time when you are listening to Christmas music? For me, I am Thankful for that Christmas music. Now I am in the mood to start…Wrapping Up Christmas.
I have a few bags sitting in my bedroom with gifts in them ready to be wrapped. But, this year I am not as prepared as I usually am and I have decided to make many of the gifts that will be given to my family this Christmas. So, I pulled up my picture files this morning and I started scrapbooking. I am going to do an album for my mom and dad that highlights their 50th wedding anniversary party that we had last summer. This is the perfect gift for my mother because she is wheelchair bound and loves anything that she can sit in her chair and simply enjoy. I am also going to make a scrapbook for my mother-in-law. She is always sending us pictures but I have never sent her any of ours. My husband is the oldest of seven children and I am always taking pictures of all of our cute nieces and nephews. I even send the pictures to their parents but have not sent them to grandma, so this will be the perfect gift for her. In both instances, the book is a nice item to lie out on the coffee table for family and friends to enjoy. The grandchildren will probably enjoy looking at the pictures of themselves more than they’ll enjoy their Christmas morning toys. My grandmother had a handmade book like this and I think it was titled “Grandmas’ Brag Book”. I’m sure every grandparent would enjoy one of these priceless treasures. My favorite part about these books are that I don’t have to leave the house to buy a gift, it is cost efficient to have them printed and delivered through Snap Fish, and they are gifts from the heart. These will truly be gifts that I will be happy to “Wrap Up”.
Another challenge that I hope to “Wrap Up” this week is getting the Christmas cards ready to send out. I love homemade Christmas cards but it seems like I always run out of time and energy before I get to them. This year, I am going to make cards, calendars and scrapbook albums from the beautiful framed scrapbooking pages illustrated in this blog. This Digital Christmas Scrapbooking Kit I used to make my Scrapbooking pages is elegant and yet fun and to me they look like a gift from our home that has been wrapped with our love and a beautiful bow and sent to our loved ones. What an easy way to “Wrap Up” the Christmas card challenge!
So turn on your Christmas music and sing along. I’m sure that it will bring a smile to your face just as it did mine and then you’ll be ready to start “Wrapping Up” your Christmas.
