Be Prepared for the Pictures of Your Life

December 10th, 2009

Digital scrapbooking page made with photos and a digital kit Here we are already, the month of December, it’s so hard to believe that it is has arrived. As many of you, December is my favorite month of the year, and yes also my craziest month of the year. I look forward to all of the many activities my kids are involved in, the family get togethers, the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, and the quiet moments that are rarely found in which I can contemplate all of the blessings and gifts that I have enjoyed in my life.

Although December is my favorite month, it also presents many challenges. One of those challenges for me is not becoming so overwhelmed with all of the good happenings around me that I loose my focus and joy in the reason I enjoy celebrating the season. Something that I have done to help myself calm down and enjoy the celebrations is to carry my camera with me and be ready to take pictures of the precious memories that come my way.

I love the Scout motto “Be Prepared”. It is true that if you are prepared you will not miss out on those moments. Here is a list of some of those moments that you won’t want to miss:

· New winter coats, hats and gloves on your child. The child’s face will be delightful!

· Children looking through a toy magazine showing you what they will ask for from Santa.

· A child writing a letter to Santa. Make sure to take a picture of the letter and make a copy of it. You can later transfer it onto a scrapbooking page and it will be adorable.

· A child praying.

· Activities with your church congregation such as a dinner or a special service project.

· Your teenager getting ready for the Christmas Dance at school.

· Giving service at a local charity such as the Food Bank or Salvation Army.

· Your holiday party for your work place.

· Children playing in the snow and the hot chocolate afterwards.

· The classroom holiday party for you small child.

· Putting up the Christmas Decorations, lights, and the special food you make throughout the month.

· Gifts and treats that you receive from neighbors and friends.

· The Christmas Tree on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.

· Family dinners and activities.

My opinion is that the most precious pictures are taken in the most unexpected moments, so choose to take pictures of simplicity as well as at the most exciting events of the season. One of the greatest things about this is that picture taking doesn’t cost anything if you have a digital camera already. Who can’t use a little free fun during the month of December.

Digital scrapbooking page Of course this list above could go on and on, but I hope that it gives you a new idea or two of the activities where your camera could easily snap a photo or two.

I have taken a lots of great shots this year and I want to make them all into wonderful scrapbooking printed album.

I’ve been so busy this year that I haven’t scrapped all the pages for the album yet.  Don’t be like me and wait until the last minute to scrapbook your pictures. Because, the other night a 24 hour sale came up on my Snapfish.com account. I wanted to use it to make my album, but by the time I had picked out the pictures that I wanted to put together in a book and scrap them, the 24 hour sale was over. I was so disappointed I missed the chance for getting a very good price. So, I am going to do better and get my photos ready by scrapping them right now! this way I will be ready to go if another sale comes up unexpectedly at the end of the month or the first of January.

It’s a great idea to pick out your favorite Christmas scrapbooking paper, embellishments and put them together with your favorite photos, and have it ready go all scrapped in your Photoshop Elements Organizer – just waiting for the perfect sale to have them printed into albums or lovely gifts!. (See more on the Organizer: Clean up for Fall and Organize your Photos and Digital Scrapbooking Supplies! )

I have learned from my missed sale opportunity – that I need to everyday just take 10 minutes and scrap those pictures that you took that day. Yes, I am busy and on the run all the time – but I learned how to get 10 minutes a day in interesting missed spots – read this to find out how: Learning Digital Scrapbooking on the Go!

Quick Page kit for fast scrapbooking for sale in the Scrap Shop at www.shop.digitalscrapbooksandmore.comAlso, if you need to really scrap faster, you can even use Quick Pages which are pre-made pages and just insert the picture, like the Christmas Polka Dots Quick Page Digital Scrapbooking Kit 1.

There is really no excuse not to be ready if you use Quick Pages as all the work is done and really you just add your own photos and save! See the image to the left, the empty spots in the frame are where you put your photos and then you are done! Really it is that simple! That way you will “Be Prepared” to have a wonderful book printed out the first of the New Year!

My hope is that you have many opportunities to make many wonderful memories and that this might be a joyous holiday season for you.
