Traditional Scrapbookers Need Digital Scrapbook Training too!
I am always so surprised when I pick up a scrapbooking magazine at the bookstore to discover about half of the articles end up using digital scrapbooking methods for traditional scrapbooking!
What is that about?
The articles on traditional scrapbooking using digital methods might talk about designing a mat in Photoshop to glue a photo on, or the article might focus on using a in using fonts in Photoshop Elements to make interesting text to print out and use in a traditional scrapbooking page.
It might even be that the whole scrapbooking page was designed in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements the way digital scrapbookers would design pages! Each of these methods of scrapbooking uses digital not traditional scrapbooking techniques!
So each time I pick up a traditional scrapbooking magazine and read the articles I am so surprised how much traditional scrapbooking is headed towards digital scrapbooking techniques. However, while traditional scrapbooking is moving in the digital direction, those articles don’t teach the digital skills but just say to use them! What?! Wow – that would be hard, as most digital scrapbookers know graphic programs like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements are easy to use but to get started you do need training! You don’t just do “this or that” and know how to do the digital scrapbooking techniques without learning about it.
So how do these articles expect the traditional scrapbookers to just do “this or that” in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements without any training? I have never heard the magazines say!
However, now the traditional scrapbookers can join in the fun and get digital scrapbook training too! They still can traditionally scrap but now they will know how to use the programs the traditional magazines are suggesting to use in traditional layouts.
Also, if traditional scrapbookers take digital scrapbook training they will understand the graphic programs to keep up their traditional scrapping, but now they can do more as they will be able to do digital scrapbooking too! Imagine having the skills to do the suggestion in Scrapbooking Magazines for traditional scrapbooking task using digital scrapbooking skills! Plus, now knowing how to do digital scrapbooking projects too! It is a “win, win” situation!
What is good training for learning Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, especially if you want to combine digital scrapbooking?
