Quick Tip: Filter Tip 1 – Use a Filter on a photo or in a Digital Scrap Project using Photoshop Elements Or Photoshop

Use filters in Photoshop or Photshop ElementsDo something different today – add a filter! Have you tried using a filter on a digital photo, digital scrapbooking page, or even a digital scrapbooking embellishment?

If you haven’t then you really need to try filters – found in either Photoshop Elements or Photoshop programs

Use Filters to change your Digital Images

It is nice to use your photos in digital scrapbooking projects. But sometimes the same photo can be so interesting if a filter is applied to it.

For example the image below has a filter applied to it and it went from a lovely photos to a wonderful image that looks more like a painting.

Use a filter in photo editing or digital scrapbooking When you apply filters to your image you can find so many interesting variations!  See the same images below with a different filters applied to the same image!  The illustrations are in Photoshop Elements but you can do the same thing in Photoshop too!

Now you see some of the interesting things you can do with images and filters you might wonder how you do it? Here is how!

Using a filter in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is very easy all you have to do is:

11-14-2009 9-12-57 AM Step 1: Open in Elements or Photoshop software – a photo,  embellishment, scrap page, or other image you want to apply a filter to.

Special Note: Make sure you have a duplicate image as you don’t want to lose the original image because you will be changing the image with the filter.

After you have a copy of your image you can now apply the filter to the copy of the image

Step 2: Go to menu bar at the top of the program (either Elements or Photoshop) and select the filter you want to apply. In the example below the filter path used was Filter > Artistic > Smudge Stick

Select a filter But you can pick any filter – try several see what they do to your image!

Step 3: Set the settings – many filters have additional settings you can pick. After you have selected the ones you like click on the OK button!
