Did you know that you can set Photoshop Elements to remember more of what you have been doing?
Photoshop Elements can keep track of documents that you had opened before. This is great because if you had been working on a photo or digital scrapbooking project you can just go to the menu and under File > Open Recently Edited File > then your document.
However, the default is for Photoshop Elements to only remember 10 documents.
But if you would like Photoshop Elements remember more you can set it to remember up to 30 documents!
Here is how you do it:
Go to Edit > Preferences > Saving Files and then look for the “Recent file list contains” setting at bottom of menu box. Type in a number of files up to 30 that you want to have quick access to and that will show up under the Open Recently Edited File menu.
(Mac users: Photoshop Elements>Preferences)
Now take a look at the 30 recently open files that it displays now that I have changed the settings! Wow – how cool!!!
Does this handy tip work in Photoshop too?
It sure does —- here is what you do!
Go to Edit > Preferences > File Handling and then look for the “Recent file list contains” setting at bottom of menu box. Type in a number of files up to 30 that you want to have quick access to and that will show up under the Open

Mac users only: Photoshop >Preferences > File Handling
Then follow the directions above for setting the number of files to display!
Now you can set Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop) to remember more of what you have been doing!
Try this simple trick and see if it helps your workflow!
Enjoy!
