Halloween is coming up and it is nice to have some ideas to host a fun Halloween party.
Halloween is a great time to unlock both children and adult’s imagination. It is great time to create fun memories. I still remember the fun Halloween parties at my Grandmother’s dress shop when I was young. Or the great Halloween parties my mom had at our home for my girlfriends and I when I was a young teen. I also have great family memories of my mother making her famous Halloween doughnuts and putting us kids in an assembly line to frost and decorate them! What I would give to have photos of these activities so I could share with my children!
Here are a couple of ideas that might helpful when you plan your party:
8 Tips for Party Planning
Tip 1: When inviting the child to the party also invite some of the parents as Halloween Party Helpers. This will keep the party fun but you will have plenty of help too. Remember to include some parent friendly snacks to keep the adults happy while they help out too!
Tip 2: Send out invitations early and ask for a RSVP one week before the party starts so you will have plenty of time to put the finishing touches on your party when you know the exact number of party guests.
Special Invitation Tip: You can make your invitations in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements using digital scrapbooking supplies! This way you can customize the invitations with some invitations with special directions or invitations for parents helpers as well – things that regular store-bought invitations don’t have! If you would like to see some digital scrapbooking supplies to make your Halloween invitations then see the Holiday Supplies in the Scrap Shop.
Tip 3: Plan ahead and have plenty of games and activities. Here are couple of places to find Halloween games and activities – Disney’s Family Fun Website has some Halloween Games you might want to consider to delight the little monsters! Another helpful website with Halloween Games is Party Game Ideas Website. Also, here is a link for Teen and Adult Halloween Games too!
Tip 4: Whether you have children, teens, or adults some party guests seem to travel all throughout house or yard and into places you may not want guests be – like laundry rooms with piles of clothes that need folding! One way to keep the party in the rooms you want guest to stay is to close the doors and decorate the places “off limits” with warning signs like: “Dead Zone”, “Do not enter”, “Beware of Ghosts” and such. You could put crisscrossed streamers and caution tape across the door way too. This will look like it was just part of the decorations but will also keep most guest from wandering in these areas!
Tip 5: Have the party in places that are easy to clean up like outside, or in the garage. Even the time of day might help the clean up, for example an afternoon party, outside has a definite advantage when it comes to clean up. First, you can more easily see what needs to be cleaned up and all the small crumbs can don’t even need to be swept up! Also there is more room for activities and people don’t usually mind giggles and screams as much outdoors!
Tip 6: Have plenty of food and if it has a Halloween theme then this makes the party more fun too! One good resource for Halloween party food is from the Food Network website.
If your party is spooky then you might want to consider Gross Halloween Food, ideas from the Family Corner website. If your Halloween party is for Adults you might want to see Divine Dinner Party ideas for Adult Halloween Food and even Halloween Cocktail Recipes.
Tip 7: Get disposable cameras and put around the party and encourage guest to take some of the photos. I find that I am often busy hosting the party, and only have time to take a few photos. If you encourage your guest to take photos of the party then you might find some unexpected and super photos of the guests and party activities!
Also, you might want to take some of the photos and change them a bit. With Photo Editing techniques you can make your Halloween party photos scarier, or change a photo to be all black and white except one area that is colored! You can learn these photo editing trick in the Halloween Series such Halloween Tutorial 1: Black and White Digital Photos with a Touch of Spooky Color. Your guest will be surprise and pleased to see the way you have edited the digital photos to make them artistic for your Halloween albums. If you would like some training on this see the new Halloween Photo Editing Series in the Scrap Shop.
Tip 8: Digitally scrap all your photos and give a copy of the scrapbooking pages to each of your guests! What a wonderful way to share the memories of the party and share with all those that attended by making a Halloween scrapbooking album!
When you make a digital scrapbook compared to a traditional one – you make it once and share it as many times as you like! Email the pages to your guest or have them printed out, however you decide to share everyone will be excited to have such a gift!
I hope you have a wonderful Halloween party and that some of these tips will help you and your guest have a great time!
Until next time – happy scrapping!
