September 4th, 2009

In Spotlight is the Editor mode in ElementsIn the spotlight today is the Editor Mode (3 ways to Edit), which is found in only in Photoshop Elements! Sorry Photoshop people – we will have something special for you and only you soon to make up for this!

What are the three Editor Modes in the Editor in Photoshop Elements?

Photoshop Elements is very interesting and friendly to all skill levels as it has 3 ways to edit when you are in the Editor! Here is a brief explanations of each of these 3 ways to Edit:

Edit 1: Full Edit: This is just what the name implies if you are in this part of the editor then you have all the power and editing features that Photoshop Elements has to offer! Basically it is the manual way of editing. You pick certain tools or functions and apply them to your image or the layers in your graphic.  Once you are comfortable with Elements most people spend most their time in the full edit mode of the Editor!

Edit 2: Quick Edit: This type of editing lets you make fast corrections to your images. For example you can fix red-eye, also, do a smart fix that automatically corrects lighting, color, and contrast. Also in this mode you can fix lighting such as contrast and exposure problems. Another feature found in the Quick Edit is the color corrections which let you quickly fix color problems. You can sharpen images in this mode too! These are a handful of the most common items people usually need to fix their images and in this mode they are automated and all put in one easy place to quickly fix photos! Usually you pick the fixes you want and either click on the Auto button for Elements to try to make the corrections for you, or you can adjust the sliders found in this Quick Area Panel. Note: a nice feature is to set up the before and after screen so you can see how the changes are affecting your original image. If you don’t like the new changes either hit the reset button or go to the full edit tab without committing to the changes.

Edit 3: Guided Edit: This way to edit takes you  step by step though a set of common editing tasks. First you open the image you wish to edit then you select the Guide Edit tab, then you choose the task you wish help on. Say you select the Crop Photo for help…then you will be guided through the cropping step by step.  If you don’t like what you have done to your image you can cancel before it finalizes the changes. If you do, then just click the done button and your image is saved with the new changes. If you really don’t know how to use Photoshop Elements this is a helpful way to get started!

It really is nice that Photoshop Elements provides so many ways to use the tools and make edits that really are helpful to all skill levels!

Have a very nice day and try out some of these different ways to edit your images.
