3 Photography Tips to Convert Flower Pics into Digital Scrapbooking Supplies!

August 14th, 2009

Everyone enjoys a beautiful flower, but digital scrapbookers see much more than just a pretty face! Flower Photography Tips To an advanced digital scrapbooker, flower photos can be converted into digital embellishments or included in personlized design on digital scrapbooking paper!

But, first things first, of course: before you can begin playing with beautiful “home-made” digital supplies, you must first start with an incredible flower photo!

Here are three photography tips to help you capture great flower photos for your digital scrapbooking projects!

Move closer to your flower Tip 1: Get Close. In the flower photo example to the left, you can see that this shot was taken from a distance. Because of this, the flower’s details are hard to see.

So, to improve this shot, you would need to physically move closer to the flower. Step into the plant if you have to.  Also,  focus your lens in closer too!

It’s harder to create pretty flower supplies if you use a shot that has little close-up detail.

But if you plan to use your flower photo to make a digital scrapbooking embellishments, then missing certain parts of the flower can look like a mistake. You probably want to have the whole flower to work with and not just part of it!  So, there is of course a balance: don’t get too close to the flower that you can’t capture the entire flower, but get close enough that you can capture important flower-detail.

Taking photos of flowers this way probably won’t win you any photography awards, but it will make better photos to use when making digital scrapbooking supplies!

You will need to keep several tips in your head while photographing flowers to make into digital scrapbooking supplies!

Look for natural contrasting backgrounds- the green leafs or the blue sky- anything that will make it easier to separate the colors in your graphic program (like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements).

If you need to bend the flowers in to the greenery … do that if it provides a contrast!

Once you start taking  the backgraound away in your graphic program,  you will soon know which backgrounds and situations are the best when you take future photos. You will develop an eye that will help you set up the photo so the backgrounds can easliy be remove  in Photoshop or Elements later when you edit your photos.

These are just a few helpful tips for taking good flower photos that you can use to turn them into digital scrapbooking supplies!

Digital Scrapbooking page with flower photo embellishment! Once you have your perfect flower photo, then you can put it into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, take out the background, and start changing your flower into an embellishment or digital scrapbooking paper.

Next, you can add your flower digital scrapbooking supply to your digital scrapbooking page as the final touch!

After you have made a few flower embellishments or flower digital scrapbooking papers from your flower photos, then you will always look for more flower photo ops!

Good luck in your flower photography adventures!
