When children are home all summer, often times the long time off from school can eventually turn into summer boredom! Boredom leads to little squabbles between siblings, tantrums, or worse … mother’s going crazy, crying, or feeling like they want to tear hair out. You know what I mean, all you mother’s out there, and no one wants that!
When my children where young, I found that having some planned summer activities really came to my rescue!
Here’s an summer activity idea that sure to keep your kids busy- make a puzzle from a Digital Scrapbooking Page! You can always make the Digital Scrapbooking page, convert it to a puzzle for them, and let your kids play with puzzle afterwards; or better yet, get the kids involved in creating the Digital Scrapbooking Page puzzle too!
4 Simple Steps to Making a Puzzle from a Digital Scrapbooking Page:
Step 1: Take some photos of some of their summer activities. Recently, my sister sent me some digital photos of her children’s summer garden. I loved all the photos because they special memories of her kids planting their first garden. I used this precious photos and made a puzzle out of them and sent the puzzle to her family as a gift!
Use your special photos to create a puzzle. Pick photos from a fun summer vacation you just got back from, or the kids at home just splashing around in the backyard wading pool. Maybe a baseball game or picnic at the park? Let your children help pick their favorite digital photos for their digital scrapbooking puzzle!
Step 2: Pick some digital scrapbooking supplies that coordinate with the theme of your photos. I chose the following digital scrapbooking kit for my sister’s kids in the garden, as it reminded me of the earth and gardening. I just knew this kit would coordinate and look great with the pics of her kids planting flowers.

Step 3: Load your digital photos and digital scrapbooking supplies into a graphic program (like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) and complete a digital scrapbooking page. I took the digital scrapbooking kit above and combined the photos with the digital papers, ribbons, and frames. I added some text and saved my digital scrapbooking page.
Have your children design the digital scrapbooking page with the photos they have selected and you might want to encourage them to also add a little journaling! For example, ask them to write a little bit about what was special about that image or what was happening at the time of the photo. Adding some text and adding journal commentary to a digital scrapbooking page takes it to the next level and lets others that see it share in your child’s thoughts about their experience. It also helps them remember the feelings they had about this experience when they grow older! Not to mention, it makes the digital scrapbooking puzzle a little more interesting when piecing it together!
