Yesterday we ”blog-discussed” about how children of all ages can get involved in Digital Scrapbooking and help create pages and projects! This blog article talked about how to get children participating in the Digital Scrapbooking experience, and that not only does this wonderful hobby help to preserve family memories, but it also helps create new memories too by bonding together over making Digital Scrapbooking pages together!
Our first three tips that we reviewed yesterday were:
Tip 1: Let them take some of the photos for a Digital Scrapbooking Project!
Tip 2: Let the child pick the Digital Scrapbooking papers and backgrounds.
Tip 3: Children love picking the photos for each Digital Scrapbooking page!
To learn more about these three tips in yesterdays blog, please read the article to catch up: Helping Kids Start Digital Scrapbooking ~ Part 1
Let’s Continue with the Next 3 Tips to help your Child Start Digital Scrapbooking Today!
Tip 4: Have your child pick and arrange some of the Digital Embellishments and Frames. Many Digital Scrapbooking Kits come with all sorts of goodies, like digital papers, frames, wordart, embellishments, and more! Children like being part of the process, and letting them pick the items in the kit can help them feel like they are important to deciding the items of this creative activity! Again, with young children, you may want to limit the selection of frames and embellishments to save some time. You can also have preselected certain themes.

When you let your children pick the digital embellishments and scrapbooking themes this can help them develop a life long hobby, great memories, and help to develop their sense of artistic style and design!
Tip 5: Have patience and be willing to let them express their creativity. Sometimes as parents we want things to be “just right,” so instead of letting our children explore and learn from experience, we tell them what to use and where things should go. Letting your child compose the page with minimal coaching will produce a very interesting and memorable scrapbooking page that your child can truly claim they, in fact, created.
And as they continue in Digital Scrapbooking, they will be able to look at their
growth in the hobby by the types of pages they create each year. Plus, if they
have more opportunities to create their own pages, chances are they will enjoy it and do it more often with you in the future!
Tip 6: Tell everyone! Children love positive recognition, so when you “show and tell” family and friends about the projects they are involved in, the big tasks they accomplished, and how great of a job that they did, it can only make their self-esteem soar. Digital scrapbooking
is also great because it makes it easy to email creations to grandparents, other family members, and friends. They can take it to “show and tell” at school too!
Having a chance to tell others, both near and far, about how they created their own work of art reinforces their skills, develops communication, and connects them to love ones.
It is easy to teach our children about Digital Scrapbooking but first we must learn how to do it! At Digital Scrapbooks and More you can get training at our Scrap Shop to learn how to do Digital Scrapbooking on your computer, on your schedule! In fact, you can watch the training videos together with your older children, talk while you scrap, and maybe even pop some popcorn too!
Make great family memories, preserve the ones you have already created too, plus give your child an exciting new hobby!
Happy Scrapping!
