Honoring our Husbands on Father’s Day and Digital Scrapbooking Projects
I had a flashback this morning … it was a clear picture in my mind of my oldest son mowing the lawn for the first time. He was about five years old and proud as he could be. He was being pulled along by the mower and looking back to see if we were watching him to see if we were as proud of him as he was of himself.
Now 11 years later I watch him as he mows lawns for a summer job and my heart swells with happiness as I realize what a hard worker he has become. He doesn’t look back to see if we are watching any more, but I know that he is very careful that his work is done to the best of his ability because he knows that we are watching.
As Father’s day approaches and I have been contemplating the many things such as how grateful I am that my children have a great role model in a dad, my husband. He has taught them to work hard by working hard himself. He has taught them that giving service to others in need should be a top priority in their life by giving service himself. He has taught them commitment and dedication through demonstrating these qualities himself. He has taught them to be friendly, spiritual, and that having a tender heart is a good quality for a man to have. He has taught them to be good sports, to receive an education, and to love their mom. Could I be any more blessed to have such a wonderful role model for my children?
I want to give my husband a great gift this year for Father’s Day. A gift that catches some of the most precious moments that our children have shared with their dad. So I have begun pulling all of my favorite pictures of the kids and their dad out of the old photo albums and scanning them into the computer. My husband is a high school teacher, and so I want to make him a 
collage of these pictures to hang in his classroom.
Picking the pictures and scanning them into the computer is a little bit of work but also a very fun process. The best thing about it is that the pictures can stay organized in a file in the computer for a long as I want them to. I can also copy these pictures onto a disc as a backup should my computer or original pictures be lost or ruined one day. Another great idea is to send the disc to a close friend or relative so that if your most cherished pictures are every lost that someone has a copy and you will be able to replace them.
Maybe you would like to go through your old photos too. You could give a very special gift to your father of pictures of you and your siblings when you were young, pictures of you and him etc. If you are all getting together on Fathers Day it would be a great time to take a new picture to add to the collection. It only takes a few minutes to get on your computer and scrap a great page which you could print immediately and frame to give right away or you could give him a card stating that his gift will arrive in the mail soon. Then you could order an entire book of pictures through an online company that will send it directly to him if you want them to. Of course, this would be an incredible gift for the Father of you children also!
