When you are digital scrapbooking do you want your photos to resize correctly and not look like they came from a clown’s crazy fun house?
If so, then take these easy steps for resizing a photo in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
Sometimes when people get started in Digital Scrapbooking and try to resize a photo while scrapping they by accident misshape the image and it looks a distorted mirror image at the fun house!
To avoid these scary results then just follow these easy steps to perfectly resize your photos in a digital scrapbooking project without any distortions.
First, bring the photo into Photoshop or Elements and drag onto the digital scrapbooking paper. Once you have the photo that you want to have resized loaded into your digital scrapbooking projects you can start the resizing tasks. In this example the photo is as large as the Digital Scrapbooking Paper and needs to be reduced.
Next click on the move tool (in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) and then click on the photo layer to activate it.
Next, in Elements, make sure on the option bar at the top of the tool menu that “show bounding boxes” is selected. (In Photoshop – they are called “show transform controls” ) Then bounding boxes will surround the photo.
This is where new scrapbookers sometime make a mistake because they use the the top, sides or bottom bounding boxes to resize the photo and it distorts the photo as shown in image.
The right way is to use the bounding boxes on the corners to resize or rotate. This keeps the proportions of the photo as it resizes. (In Photoshop you also need to hold down the Shift Key as you resize to keep the proportions)
When using the bounding boxes to resize a photo in Elements or Photoshop use the bounding boxes in the corners signified by the red arrows in the image.
The bounding boxes that will distort your photo are the ones (see purple arrow) at the top, sides or bottom. When using the top bounding box, the photo will not keep it’s proportions while resizing and sort of smashes the image.
Don’t let this happen to any of your photos!
