It’s always exciting when the first snow comes. Almost like magic it silently falls through the night sky. Everything is so quiet when awakening to a blanket of newly fallen snow. And then, the kids wake up. Excitement fills the air. Is it a Snow Day they ask? Will we have school? If you have never experienced a Snow Day, I have to tell you that it is the singular, most exciting day a school child can look forward to in the winter.
After shoveling out the family driveway and a few neighbors too, the sleds and inner tubes come out of the shed. The closet door flies open in an effort to find the hats and gloves left over from last years adventures. The carrots disappear from the drawer in the Fridge and the children fly out the back door as they race to build a snowman.
This year we had a really fun addition to our winter collection of specialty snow items. The kids were up on the hill and noticed a bunch of college age boys that were sledding down the hill on an old living room chair! They had attached snow boards to the bottom and were having a great time maneuvering it down the hill. When the boys were ready to leave the kids asked if they could have the chair and believe it or not, those guys gave that chair to my kids. So now we have a snowboarding chair sitting in the back of my husbands’ truck that is used on every sledding outing we go on. It is really fun to go down on, but I am so glad that I have boys that push it back up the hill.
Now the holidays have come to an end but the snow hasn’t. We can now find our way out of the neighborhood without getting stuck but the snow forecast says there is lots of snow coming soon. So I keep my digital camera close, just in case I get a chance to catch the excitement in my children’s eyes when they ask the same anxious question. Is it a Snow Day? And I, with excitement in my voice exclaim, YES!
Hope you have lots of fun if you live in snowy places too, and can get great snowy digital pictures for your scrapbooking projects. I started to scrap my snow photos and to make it easy I used Quick Pages! I just dropped my photos in and with the text tool wrote their names on the tags and a saying on the note pad area. It was quick and easy and within moments my precious Snow Days were captured in great looking Scrapbooking pages. I think I will turn this into my January page on my Calendar Scrapbooking Project!
Happy Snowy Scrapping Days,
Denise
